Out Of This World songs
$11.49 Outside of fellow jazz faculty or up and coming musicians who may have acquired one of the many play-along CDs recorded by Dan Haerle for Jamey Aebersold's label, most jazz fans will likely be unaware of this veteran jazz educator and pianist. But it is obvious that he knows his subject and can cook with the best of them, as he renders fresh interpretations of standards and classic jazz compositions on this trio session. Joining him are Bob Bowman (a veteran of both the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra and the Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabackin Big Band) and drummer Jack Mouse, a fellow educator who has recorded with trombonist Phil Wilson and vocalist Janice Borla. The leader is primarily a lyrical soloist, occasionally showing the influence of Bill Evans ("A Child is Born"). His soft bossa nova arrangement of Erroll Garner's "Misty" avoids the predictable path. Likewise, "On Green Dolphin Street" is noteworthy for its brisk percussive setting and Latin flavor. Unlike many pianists who lead trios, Haerle does not overly hog the spotlight, often showcasing Bowman after the initial chorus. Whether on brushes or utilizing sticks, Mouse plays perfectly and has some strong solo opportunities. This is an enjoyable session by three veteran musicians deserving of wider recognition. ~ Ken Dryden

| | Eminem Presents: The Re-Up CD (2006) Edited
Out Of This World music CDs
$10.39 A little over two years after his hugely successful fourth solo album, ENCORE, the Warren, Michigan, native and rap icon returns with a compilation album--originally conceived as a mixtape--that serves to showcase his own label, Shady Records, and its formidable line-up of artists. While EMINEM PRESENTS: THE RE-UP is far from a solo album, Eminem himself is responsible for much of the album's heat, producing the majority of the tracks and making vocal appearances on seven songs (including three solo joints).
Shady protegees Obie Trice, Stat Quo, Swifty McVay, Kuniva, and Mr. Porter, newcomers Bobby Creekwater and Ca$his, as well as established stars like 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Nate Dogg are allotted time to shine. One of THE RE-UP's strongest assets, though, is the participation of another industry giant, the Alchemist, who (aside from laying down a handful of the album's tightest beats) worked as DJ archivist, putting the track list together to provide the necessary street mixtape feel.
Seemed like drama was always something Eminem craved, but in the year leading up to The Re-Up, the drama was heavy, a really, really bad kind of heavy. He checked himself into rehab, got remarried for a few months to the infamous Kim before that went south, then his best man and best friend Proof is murdered in a bizarre and depressing incident that made all the gangster talk that came previously extra chilling. A mixtape that was originally planned to be released on the underground circuit, The Re-Up has plenty of that serious heat that influenced Eminem to go aboveground with the release. There's the surging remix of 50 Cent's "Ski Mask Way," the excellent all-star single "You Don't Know," a couple clever redo's of Akon's "Smack That" single with various members of the Shady family, and "There He Is" with newcomer Bobby Creekwater living up to his hype over a rich Alchemist beat. Tacked onto the end is Eminem's shining moment, "No Apologies," which speaks to his frozen heart, then lashes out at critics. The man's lyrical dexterity is on display for the soul-searching closer, there's no doubt about that, but the target is questionable, since it didn't really seem like Em was getting a critical drubbing in 2006. A diversion maybe? Could be, since he's sidestepping a whole lot of the other issues ...

Out Of This World songs
$7.99 10/03/06 WILLET (formerly known as CLEARVIEW) is a Rock Band out of Westminster, MD made up of brothers, Jeremy, Justin, and Jordan Willet. In 2005, WILLET, signed a booking and management agreement with RARENTERTAINMENT, and in July of 2006 the band signed a record deal with CRIMSON FORGED RECORDS. WILLET’s touring has consisted of national tours and major festival appearances such as CORNERSTONE, LIFELIGHT, and OY FEST.
The idea for WILLET (comprised of the 3 Willet brothers) began on a family trip to Florida while watching a CHEVELLE DVD in the backseat. Jeremy, Justin and Jordan grew up in a Christian home taking piano lessons from their father, which resulted in expanding to other instruments such as bass, drums and guitar. Being that the Willet brothers have always shared a close relationship both musically, and relationally, ...
