Liquid Tension Experiment: John Petrucci (guitar); Jordan Rudess (keyboards); Tony Levin (bass, Chapman Stick); Mike Portnoy (drums, percussion). Recorded at Millbrook Sound Studios, Millbrook, New York in October & November 1998. Includes liner notes by John Pertucci, Jordan Rudess, Tony Levin and Mike Portnoy. Personnel: John Petrucci (guitar); Jordan Rudess (keyboards); Mike Portnoy (drums). The second Liquid Tension Experiment album doesn't contain anything quite as self-indulgent as its predecessor's chops-heavy half-hour jam session "Three Minute Warning"; the epic piece here, the 17-minute "When the Water Breaks," is much more composed and therefore focused (even if it's not what you'd call a tight listen). Elsewhere, the music blends Dream Theater-esque progressive metal (logically) and spontaneous interaction with mellower, more lushly textured pieces; the high level of musicianship is, of course, beyond question. ~ Steve Huey

kick ass!!!!!!!!!!!! this cd rocks.
it's an ecclectic album with every sound from heavy metal to reagge to
even a few seconds of bolivian feel.
i'm a death-meatl junkie, and my boyfriend loves Pink Floyd...
but we both agree on this album,
as well as the first L.T.E. album,
"Liquid Tension Experiment"
rock on!!!!!!

Remarkable stuff ....
I've gradually shifting away from Dream Theater's style of writing but I still absolutely love this CD (and LTE 1). Highights for me are "When The Water Breaks" (never gets boring and the first 4 mins are beautifully executed ... nice melody from John). The insanity in Another Dimension right before the French Reggae bit makes for a very exciting ride. Lowlights for me are the 100% Improv tracks; e.g. Chewbacca. With Alice in Chains on hiatus by the turn of the 21st century, Columbia Records issued several stop-gap releases to fill up the space -- 1999's greatest-hits collection Nothing Safe and the box set Music Bank, and a year later, their first true live collection, titled simply Live. Despite Alice in Chains' inability (or outright refusal) to launch a proper tour after 1994, fans lucky enough to have caught one of their early tours will attest that they were quite a powerful live act. Their detuned sound and tales ...
