Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles; Behind The Scenes Steve is a notorious ladies' man who has made some enemies among the women he's two-timed. Three of them gang together to murder him, but God isn't sure he's ready for Steve, so he sends him back to earth for a second chance. Steve will get into heaven--but only if he can find one woman who truly loved him for who he was. But there's a catch: God sends Steve back as a gorgeous woman. Blake Edwards's updating of the farcical GOODBYE CHARLIE stars Ellen Barkin as Steve/Amanda Brooks, a man trapped in a woman's body. After three of his former girlfriends, led by Margot Bronfman (JoBeth Williams), join forces to murder womanizing male chauvinist Steve Brooks (Perry King), God refuses to admit him to heaven until he can find a woman who loves him unconditionally. For Satan's amusement, God returns Steve to earth in the form of a beautiful woman. After she gets over the shock of having the body of a woman, Amanda blackmails Steve's boss to get his/her job back and persuades Margot to give her some lessons in acting like a woman. With some effort Amanda manages to convince Steve's best friend, Walter Stone (Jimmy Smits), that Steve is now a woman. She even finds that being a woman is useful at work, helping her land the multimillion-dollar advertising account of gay executive Sheila Faxton (Lorraine Bracco), who's looking for more than just a business relationship. Funny and charming, SWITCH features a highly inventive comic turn by the gifted Barkin. Switch Reviews: "...Brash, funny and tender-hearted..."
-- Philip Strick, Sight and Sound "...Ellen Barkin is an itchy-twitchy stitch in SWITCH....She's a physical-comedy sensation..."
-- Susan Wloszczyna, USA Today "...There's a ferocity about Barkin's acting that, in certain roles, makes scenes around her crackle with danger. In SWITCH, Edward uses it to the hilt..."
-- Michael Wilmington, Los Angeles Times

Switch Movie Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) An oldie but a goodie! "Switch" is not a new movie, but the idea never gets old and still fits the humor of today. To enjoy, simply sit down with your favorite snack or beverage, turn the player on and let your imagination take over. If you don't nick-pick it to death, you will find it a very amusing and enjoyable movie. Submitted by Jim (Colorado) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
I enjoy it, a movie you can watch with your girl. It is difinitely a chick-flik, but a lot of testostorone floating around to keep you glue to the screen. Submitted by Vic (LA, CAlifornia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$14.39 Based on the journals of Brother Gaspar de Carvajal, AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD is director Werner Herzog's hallucinatory tale of Spanish colonialists searching for El Dorado, the legendary city of gold, in 16th-century Peru. When the travellers reach an impasse, a scouting party is assembled to search for any traces of the mythical empire. As they attempt to forge their way through the dense jungle, more and more of the party falls ill while their ruthless leader, Don Lope de Aguirre (Klaus Kinski), grows increasingly insane.
Widely considered to be Herzog's finest film, AGUIRRE, which shares much in common with Francis Ford Coppola's APOCALYPSE NOW, highlights the director's visionary approach to filmmaking. Like Coppola's film, accounts of AGUIRRE's shooting are laced with legendary incidents, such as the time Herzog ...

Switch movie DVD
$16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outré toupee. His story of how Jewel led him to ruin, filmed in a stylized flashback bathed in blue, is mirrored by Carl talking to his therapist--played with a delicious verve by Reba McEntire, and Detective Dehling talking with a priest; each telling their own stories of obsession with Jewel. Tyler is clearly beautiful, but it's the evil, scheming side of her character--delivered with voluptuous softness and irresistible badness--that makes the men's actions, however ridiculous they become, feel completely believable. ...

$9.69 Following in a long tradition of Hollywood May-December romances, AUTUMN IN NEW YORK is the story of a pair who finds love when each least expects it. Will Keane (Richard Gere) is a successful restaurant owner and bachelor playboy with more "girlfriends" than he knows what to do with but no serious relationships. He meets Charlotte (Winona Ryder), the daughter of an old flame, and is immediately interested in her. The two develop a casual love affair, but Charlotte has a hidden secret: a terminal heart condition. As the unlikely pair continues the relationship, they grow closer than either could have imagined, proving that love is rarely convenient or easy. While struggling with his feelings toward Charlotte, Will also has to deal with a mystery woman (Vera Farmiga) who holds a secret from his past, and his own sense of mortality as he gets older. AUTUMN IN NEW YORK is an old-fashioned melodramatic love story that makes up for its familiar plot with glossy movie-star performances from Gere ...
