5 stars Another Peckinpah gem
This film tends to get lost amongst "The Wild Bunch", "Straw Dogs" and "Cross of Iron", which is a shame as it ranks right up there alongside all of those. (As does "The Getaway") "The Killer Elite" stars James Caan and Robert Duvall as freelance killers who work on and off for the CIA. When Hansen (Duvall) betrays Locken (Caan) and nearly kills him, the battle is on for Locken to get rehabilitated and get revenge. Great performaces all around by the leads, as well as supporting actors Gig Young, Arthur Hill, Burt Young and Bo Hopkins. Highly recommended. 5 out of 5
