92 minute feature film DVD starring Gene Barry, James Mitc hum, Robert Mitchum and Keely Smith. The members of Lucas Doolin's family have been Kentucky moonshiners for many generations. Lucas attempts to carry on the tradition by transporting the illegal whiskey to Southern markets. This becomes more and more difficult, because not only is U.S. Treasury Department agents cracking down on bootleggers, but a powerful racketeer now wants a corner on the market, and Lucas and his friends are in his way. Mitchum's real-life son plays his kid brother in this battle-and-chase crime drama of a Kentucky moonshiner, the Feds who oppose him, and the mobsters who try to take him over. In an atypical casting move, love interest is supplied in the person of chanteuse Keely Smith. Actor Robert Mitchum wrote, produced, and starred in this film.
DRM is his production company. He even wrote the theme song, "Whippoorwill."
Co-star Jim Mitchum is the son of Robert Mitchum. Thunder Road Reviews: "THUNDER ROAD stands as spiritual granddaddy to all those '60s and '70s road movies that take the endless American highway as existential parable....None of them ever made death-tripping this much fun."

True Classic One of my all time favorites. On a par with Sands Of Iwo Jima, 12 O'Clock High and many other ground breakers.
Mitchum makes the character absolutely believeable. I hrew up in South Georgia and knew many characters in real life that could have been walk ons in this movie. Submitted by Butch (Thomaston, Georgia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$12.85 Based on the journals of Brother Gaspar de Carvajal, AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD is director Werner Herzog's hallucinatory tale of Spanish colonialists searching for El Dorado, the legendary city of gold, in 16th-century Peru. When the travellers reach an impasse, a scouting party is assembled to search for any traces of the mythical empire. As they attempt to forge their way through the dense jungle, more and more of the party falls ill while their ruthless leader, Don Lope de Aguirre (Klaus Kinski), grows increasingly insane.

$15.69 In one of his most memorable roles, Steve McQueen stars as Detective Frank Bullitt, a hard-driving, tough-as-nails San Francisco cop. Bullitt has just received what sounds like a routine assignment: keep a star witness out of sight and out of danger for 48 hours, then deliver him to the courtroom on Monday morning. $10.29 The relationship between a mom and her 13-year-old is tested as the girl enters the world of sex, drugs and petty crime. This DVD feature film stars Holly Hunter, Evan Rachel Wood, Nikki Reed. Bonus features include commentary, deleted scenes, featurette, more.
THIRTEEN is Catherine Hardwicke's explosive portrait of teenage girls at their very worst. Mean, manipulative, conniving, and utterly out of control, these skinny, sexy, drug-addicted, 13-year-old time bombs are nothing short of terrifying. Hardwicke's movie is brilliant in its ability to portray this phenomenon, which comes off as very real. The skillful photography from cinematographer Elliot Davis communicates the most complicated themes of the film: insecurity, confusion, wanting to be liked and accepted, and feeling like it's time to grow up fast. In an early scene, protagonist Tracy (Evan Rachel Wood), a shy girl and good student, approaches Evie (Nikki Reed), the school's ultra-popular bad girl, and the two size up each other's clothing, jewelry, hair, shoes, socks, and decide to go on a shopping spree. From there Tracy spirals downward, copying Evie's every move ...
