||Enjoyable John Wayne fare|
I recenty returned from San Antonio and actually purchased this DVD in the Alamo gift shop. This was preceded by a lengthy discussion (or rather, "lecture") that I received at the hands of some old gal who was apparently associated with the Alamo Historical Society after I indicated that Santa Ana seemed to be quite reasonable in his approach to this matter. After all, they were trying to grab a piece of HIS country, he warned them to get out and allowed the women and children to depart, unharmed. I mention this because, if nothing else, I thought that this version of the movie succeeded in a fair depiction of both sides of the story. The gringos were not depicted as a bunch of nice guys who were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time and Santa Ana was not depicted as bloodthirsty. Finally, if you visit the Alamo, avoid a discussion with the old gal behind the desk or you'll never get out of that place.

||The Duke And The Alamo|
The Duke's version of the Alamo story is not an accurate one,but it is still a really good movie.The final battle is one of the best depictions of the Alamo defenders' last stand.
