 Pepe is Peppy
I had the Giuliani opus 30 by other performers, and though the music is very lilting the guitar soloist did not render the music with much zeal. I liked the music so much I ordered this CD with Pepe Romero as soloist. Aha! That made all the difference. With Pepe Romero's peppy rendition the music came alive and did justice to Giuliani's work. The rest of the music on this CD was also done well and for guitar music lovers this CD will surely be played often. There are times when Pepe is doing solo work that you honestly believe that there is more than one instrument. I highly recommend this CD.

 A recording I never tire of
Superb performances with typically balanced and classically restrained orchestral playing. The soloist is completely in the spirit of the music. Both Op. 36 and 70 are wonderful - after all these years, still a wonderful recording.

 Lots of Pep with Pepe
I heard the very same music on another CD with a different guitarist who shall remain namless. When I got the present CD with Pepe Romero doing the guitar solo part there was definitely a difference that pleased the ear. Pepe put pep into the music! Others have said that the music of Mauro Giuliani is much like Mozart - and perhaps that is true, but what th heck if wrong with Mozart? I find this album to be very engaging...lilting music that can have your foot tapping. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy excellent classical guitar playing.
