Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker / Gergiev, Kirov Orchestra CD

 THE NUTCRACKER AS IT SHOULD BE
This is the most superbly conducted recording of the Nutcracker that I've ever heard. Valery Gergiev adeptly accentuates the wonderful counterpoint and the Kirov Orchestra keeps pace with him effortlessly as he takes them, and this piece, to wonderful new heights. Too many conductors have "Americanized" this piece. Gergiev takes it seriously and takes it back to where it belongs--Russia. Also deserving of mention is the delightful recording of the CD itself. With exquisite imaging and depth of soundstage, this disc will make any stereo sound like an audiophile system. I wholeheartedly reccommend this CD to anyone with even a passing interest in classical music. It will definitely be in my collection until the end of my days--or at least until I upgrade to SACD ;-)

 Amazing sound.
Probably the most superbly recording I've ever heard. Even I am not an expert, the sound is really fantasticˇˇˇ, Valery Gergiev & the Kirov Orchestra makes an extraordinary work. I highly reccommend this CD to anyone who loves the russian music as well as the wonderfull sound in their stereo recording.
