Viaggio Italiano
$13.05 Andrea Bocelli was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is one of those rare artists who is equally comfortable on both sides of the pop/classical fence. Discovered by Italian pop sensation Zucchero, Bocelli, whose blindness is no hindrance to his musical insight, has made an international splash in both the pop and opera worlds. He's worked with Luciano Pavarotti and Bryan Adams with equal ease, and his all-encompassing musical prowess can be easily heard on ROMANZA. The album ...
| | Andrea Bocelli Sueno CD (1999)
Viaggio Italiano
$13.75 SUENO is special edition of SOGNO, including three Spanish language versions of songs on the original Italian language recording.
"The Prayer" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. "Sogno" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli has gained a good deal of popularity in recent years, and his platinum record sales and sold out concerts show no sign of waning. He has brought opera to an entirely new pop audience and has, in the process, become an international crossover superstar. Andrea's passionate voice is clearly the reason for his appeal, and it is the power of his voice that carries SUENO. The album is a special edition of the Italian release SOGNO (three of the songs are performed in Spanish here). The performances are lush, beautiful and in the same vein as his previous pop material.
"Canto De La Tierra" soars with feeling, as the Joy Singers Of Venice back Andrea. "The Prayer" (with Celine Dion) masterfully melds the two artists' talents in a tender ballad. Produced, arranged, and orchestrated by Mauro Malavasi, SUENO fortunately ...
| | Aria - The Opera Album / Andrea Bocelli CD (1998)
Viaggio Italiano
$10.69 Andrea Bocelli is one of a handful of artists able to perform both popular and classical music with great success and distinction. ARIA-THE OPERA ALBUM features his thoughtful and heartfelt renditions of some of the most popular Romantic tenor arias. It is easy to hear strains of other singers in his voice, such as a young Del Monaco or perhaps Corelli, with whom he studied, paying for his lessons singing in piano bars and night clubs.
Worth noting are "Questa o quella" from Verdi's 'Rigoletto,' where Bocelli easily adopts the suave and lascivious charm of The Duke of Mantua, and "Porquoi me réveiller" from Massenet's 'Werther,' which highlights his command of the French ...

He's worked with Luciano Pavarotti and Bryan Adams with equal ease, and his all-encompassing musical prowess can be easily heard on ROMANZA. | | Andrea Bocelli Sogno CD (1999)
Viaggio Italiano
$10.69 "The Prayer" was nominated 2000 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. "Sogno" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
There seems to be no end to the market for Latin tenors who inhabit the peculiar world most often termed "crossover." The well-known "Three Tenors" travel the boundaries between classical music, songs from their homelands and European pop songs frequently and with ease. The success of these artists is also being enjoyed by Bocelli, who was launched as a superstar in the United States in late 1997 by pledge-time showings of his television special on PBS. His then-current album ROMANZA shot up the charts, followed in short order by VIAGGIO ITALIANO (a mix of opera and traditional Italian songs in the manner of Mario Lanza or Enrico Caruso) and ARIA-THE OPERA ALBUM.
Now with SOGNO (Italian for "dream," pronounced "soh-nyo") Bocelli returns to the all-pop sound of ROMANZA. The program is entirely in Italian, with translations provided, and fans of the tenor need not fear disappointment. Duets with Celine Dion, Dulce Pontes, and Eros Ramazzotti are highlights, and ...

$6.59 | | Paul Robeson Peace Arch Concerts CD (1998)
Viaggio Italiano
$13.59 THE PEACE ARCH CONCERTS contains both spoken and musical selections from the first two of Paul Robeson's four Peace Arch Concerts given on the U.S./Canadian border.
Recorded live at The Peace Arch Park, Blaine, Washington on May 18, 1952 & August 16, 1953. Includes liner notes and a bibliography by Ian Shaw.
Digitally remastered by Laurie Flannery (Northeastern Digital Recording, Southboro, Massachusetts).
Standing atop a flat-bed truck parked one-foot from the Canadian border, Paul Robeson sang to crowds of hundreds of thousands during four concerts between 1952 and 1955. The concerts had their genesis after Robeson was denied entry into Canada by the U.S. State Department for a concert in support of the Mine, Mill and Smelters Worker's Union of British Columbia. Robeson had been an American cultural icon for the preceding three decades as a singer and actor. By the time of the concerts presented on this disc, however, he had become persona non grata in the highly-charged atmosphere of the domestic cold war. His well-known support of a variety of progressive causes had caused his passport to be revoked and made it virtually impossible ...
