There seems to be no end to the market for Latin tenors who inhabit the peculiar world most often termed "crossover." The well-known "Three Tenors" travel the boundaries between classical music, songs from their homelands and European pop songs frequently and with ease. The success of these artists is also being enjoyed by Bocelli, who was launched as a superstar in the United States in late 1997 by pledge-time showings of his television special on PBS. His then-current album ROMANZA shot up the charts, followed in short order by VIAGGIO ITALIANO (a mix of opera and traditional Italian songs in the manner of Mario Lanza or Enrico Caruso) and ARIA-THE OPERA ALBUM. Now with SOGNO (Italian for "dream," pronounced "soh-nyo") Bocelli returns to the all-pop sound of ROMANZA. The program is entirely in Italian, with translations provided, and fans of the tenor need not fear disappointment. Duets with Celine Dion, Dulce Pontes, and Eros Ramazzotti are highlights, and Bocelli is in top form throughout. For those who've not yet made this singer's acquaintance, SOGNO makes an excellent introduction. Be warned, however, that it may induce cravings for his previous albums!

Sogno Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Excellent I own 4 other cds by Andrea, but Sogno it absolutely the best. It makes you feel like you're in Tuscany at a beautiful vineyard feeling a wealth of romance. Submitted by yola772003 (Red Bank, NJ USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
An Outstanding album Andrea Bocelli is one of my favorite musical artists, and this, Sogno, is one of my favorite albums. There is so much emotion, raw, pure and powerful, in the melodies. So many favorites here, it's difficult to pick an all time personal favorite, but I'd say Come Un Fiume Tu is probably one of the best.
Since playing Sogno over and over and over for months at a time in my car to and from work, I have since purchased nearly every other album Bocelli has released, and Sogno continues to be my personal favorite.
If you're a Bocelli fan, Sogno is a must for your collection. Submitted by graphicgoddess (Westminster, Colorado) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
This CD is a Dream come True When I received Songo I was first stuck at how different it was from Romanza. At first there were many songs I instantly loved (Conto Della Terra, Songo, Cantico, Immenso, I Love Rossini, Come Un Fiurme Tu and A Mio Padre) are all beautifully done with great emotion in Bocelli's voice. And there were a few songs I did not like at first (The Prayer, O Mare E Tu, and nel Cuore Lei); But as I continued to listen, I have come to love the whole CD and even find the four songs, I didn't initially like, to be fantastic and maybe the four best on the CD. I guess it just took me getting use to the Vocal harmonies between Celine Dion and Bocelli on the Prayer; Now I think The Prayer is one of Music histories most beautiful songs, Dion and Bocelli's soaring vocals are outstanding and the switching between Italian and English is so well done; Dulce Ponteswith Bocelli on O Mare E Tu is a truly hypnotic song and has strange middle eastern twist to it, that for Bocelli, at first, I did not get, BUT as I have played it more and more I have grow to love it, I just love Pontes seductive voice as she starts off the song and then Bocelli's comes in with his tenor voice singing "Ammore Mio" like he is struck by her seductive voice and I think its just its just fantastic, and very romantic. I love the way Bocelli and Pontes voices play with the music, it just draws me in; Eros Ramazzotti with Bocelli on Nel Cuore Lei is a very good Duet, It took me a little bit to get use to Eros' Voice, But now I think of him as a sort of Zucchero and I enjoy Nel Cuore immensely. Sometimes the songs you don't love at first, become the songs you love the most. Songo is a wonderful song it's so beautifully done, and Songo is a Great CD; it is a must have for the Bocelli fan and any fan of great singing and beautiful music. To me its right there with Romanza. Submitted by RickDC (Moodus, CT USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Fantastico! I play this nearly every morning to get cranked up. It is BIG and powerful. Did I say I love it?
I bought Romanza afterwards and it's nice, but I miss the big orchestra.

wow Once in a life time someone comes along gifted with such a beautiful voice. I first saw Andre on PBS special and my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe I was actually listening to someone who could litterally hold your attention. I like music period and there are but a few people in this world talented enough to hold that honor. No fancy board tricks like they do in studios just a wonderful voice. Hats off Andre. Submitted by yoyoman (Shreveport,la.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
