Bought this, having seen the live telecast so I knew what I was getting. An out of tune Pino Daniele spoils part of it, and a horrifically incompetent Liberian kid is worse, but that's who the concert was for, so there's some excuse for her involvement. Tricia Yearwood is always 12 out of 10 (even better with the sound turned on - she's 12 out of 10 for that too!) but the best bit is the French pop (yes POP!!) singer Florent Pagny blowing Pavarotti into the weeds. In fact Pavarotti disgraced himself by deliberately trying to sabotage Pagny's obbligato finale - unsuccessfully. Eros something-or-other, Zucchero and Stevie Wonder embarassing, but Vanessa Williams and especially Natalie Cole predictably sublime. Celine Dion tries to seduce Pavarotti vocally and dramatically but the Maestro was above all of that nonsense and stayed woodenly static and stony-faced. The Corrs, well average. The Spice Girls? At least they can all be embraced by Pavarotti simultaneously as he was keen to demonstrate! Roger Pilgrim, France
