A remarkably wide-ranging introduction to Polynesian music was recorded by David Fanshawe (the African Sanctus chap) over several sojourns in islands too numerous to list but ranging from Bora Bora to New Zealand. The contents are equally varied: religious music traditional and Christian, party music for ancient percussion and for small string bands. ~ John Storm Roberts, Original Music Spirit Of Polynesia Music Spirit Of Polynesia Review

Spirit Of Polynesia CD music
$13.39 Pink Martini follow the around-the-world-in-a-dozen-songs thrills of HEY EUGENE! with SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, a mellower, simpler set of small pleasures. These are relative terms, however; the group's music is still well-traveled, with China Forbes singing in five languages (English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, and Italian) instead of the six or so on EUGENE!. However, Pink Martini opt for a more unified sound here, one that draws on the more straightforward lounge-pop of their debut, SYMPATHIQUE, and the mellowness of '60s and '70s pop. SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS' first half is especially smooth, opening with the beautifully soft Neapolitan ballad "Ninna Nanna" and the title track, on which Forbes sings "I think we should take it slow" over swooping ...

Spirit Of Polynesia CD music
$12.69 There's an acoustic concoction brewing in Colorado, and brothers Wes and Ryan are ready to share it with you. This smooth combination of original sounds and styles is becoming well known as! The Kirkpatrick Project.Growing up in a musically oriented family, the Kirkpatrick brothers didn't even need to leave the house to find their first musical instruments. 'I remember wailing on a harmonica and banging on the piano when I was little, but I don't know if that really counts,' Ryan joked. 'Our grandpa played a mean mandolin, and that was the first stringed instrument I learned how to play. 'When Ryan picked up the guitar, he handed the mandolin to Wes, and before long they were side-by-side playing guitars. As the year 2005 came to a close, The Kirkpatrick Project opened a new door with the release of their first studio album Here We Go. Acoustic hooks and memorable lyrics drive the album's songs into your head and to your heart. The recording also boasts the work of Jason Hollar on bass, Peter Knudson on drums, Chris Hatton on keys, and was produced by Christopher Jak. 'We had a lot of fun recording this album,' said Wes. 'It's the perfect introduction of The Kirkpatrick Project to the world. 'Currently, TKP is trying to make ...

$12.95 Although Gone Missing is packaged and promoted as a traditional indie pop album, it's actually a cast album from an off-off-Broadway show. Gone Missing is a revue-style series of songs from a show of the same title, constructed by a young theatrical troupe out of a series of filmed and recorded interviews with random New Yorkers on the concept of things that are lost, from memories to people to the black Gucci pump that dominates the album cover art. Lacking the context of a show, the songs on a cast album have to stand on their own merits, and unfortunately, most of the tracks on Gone Missing don't. Too many, especially the group-sung title track ...
