Personnel: Stan Getz (tenor saxophone); Kenny Barron (piano); Rufus Reid (bass); Victor Lewis (drums). Recorded live at the Montmartre Club, Copenhagen, Denmark on July 6, 1987. Includes liner notes by Alain Tercinet. Personnel: Stan Getz (tenor saxophone); Kenny Barron (piano); Victor Lewis (drums). Audio Mixer: Johnnie Hjerting. Liner Note Author: Alain Tercinet. Recording information: Montmartre Club, Copenhagen, Denmark (07/06/1987). Photographers: Cecile Treal; Jean-Pierre Larcher. As he did to celebrate his 50th birthday, Stan Getz performed at the Montmartre Club in Copenhagen at the time of his 60th birthday. This enjoyable set (mostly lengthy versions of standards) finds the veteran tenor still very much in his prime and greatly assisted by pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Rufus Reid and drummer Victor Lewis. Worth picking up. ~ Scott Yanow Stan Getz Anniversary! Songs Anniversary! Music Review Purchase Anniversary! | | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Anniversary!
$6.39 The Corrs: Jim Corr (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Sharon Corr (vocals, violin); Andrea Corr (vocals, tin whistle); Caroline Corr (vocals, drums, bodhran, percussion). Recorded at Ardmore Studios in Dublin, Ireland in January 2002. You knew the Corrs had made it when they played the final JFK Awards ceremony of the Clinton administration. Playing it would have been achievement enough, but their status as a happening thing was cemented at the end of the ceremony, during the encores, when everybody was taking their final bows. Bill moseyed up over to Andrea, put his arm around her, and when she was looking away, sized her up -- at precisely the same moment Chuck Berry was checking her out. If that doesn't mean that you've broken America, entering its pop culture, I don't know what does, expect for maybe a VH1-endorsed piece of product like Live in Dublin. Lo and behold, that's exactly what the Corrs received in the spring of 2002, a year and a half after "In Blue" and its accompanying ...

Personnel: Phil Ranelin (vocals, trombone, cowbells); Phil Ranelin; Louis Van Taylor (flute, bass clarinet, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone); Michael Session (alto saxophone); Danny Grissett (piano, grand piano); Jeff Littleton (acoustic bass, double bass, upright bass); Louis Jr. VanTaylor (flute, alto flute, bass clarinet, soprano saxophone); Keith Fiddmont (flute, soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone); George Harper Jr. (flute, tenor saxophone); Zane Musa (soprano saxophone, alto saxophone); Pharoah Sanders, Wendell Harrison, Dayna Stephens (tenor saxophone); Lorca Hart (drums); Taumbu (congas, percussion). Audio Mixers: Phil Ranelin; Gregory Howe; Ben Leinbach. Liner Note Author: Phil Ranelin. Recording information: Stag Street Studios, Los Angeles, CA (12/16/2003/12/17/2003). Arranger: Phil Ranelin. Inspiration is trombonist/composer/bandleader Phil Ranelin's first self-led studio date in eight years. His last, A Close Encounter of the Very Best Kind, was solid and wonderfully articulated and arranged, but was criminally under-recognized. Ranelin's star has been on the rise again in recent years with renewed interest in his recordings on Detroit's legendary Tribe Records imprint (which he co-founded)--reissued on the Hefty and P-VIne labels. Wide Hive has given Ranelin free rein in creating this tribute to his mentors and peers. Surrounding himself with a solid group of session players including saxophonists Louis Van Taylor, Zane Musa, Keith Fiddmont, and George Harper Jr., as well as stalwart percussionist Taambu, drummerLorca Hart, bassist Jeff Littleton, and pianist Danny Grissett,Ranelin composed all ten tunes on the set. As an arranger, his skill is consummate. He is never overly busy, and whether ...
