Digitally remastered by Opposite Wave (Universal Mastering Studios-East).
There are many Art Tatum samplers to choose from on the market and all of them contain moments of brilliance. As part of Verve's Finest Hour series, the blind virtuoso pianist is spotlighted on versions of "Liza," "Tea for Two," "Deep Purple," "Tiger Rag," and "Rosetta." Tatum is heard unaccompanied and with small combos on this 19-song budget sampler. While it would be inconceivable to compile a single disc of Tatum's contribution to jazz, this collection is satisfying, especially for anyone new to the extraordinary pianist. ~ Al Campbell
This is part of Verve's Finest Hour series.

Personnel: Art Tatum (piano); Joe Turner (vocals); Joe Thomas (trumpet); Edmond Hall (clarinet); John Collins, Tiny Grimes (guitar); Billy Taylor, Slam Stewart (bass); Eddie Dougherty (drums).

Art Tatum's Finest Hour album
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, ...
| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Art Tatum's Finest Hour CD music
$15.29 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. From the classic anthem "Pickin' Up the Pieces," which kicks things off, through "You Better Think Twice," "C'mon," "Kind Woman," "From the Inside," "A Good Feelin' to Know," "Crazy Eyes," and on and on, this is wonderful music, ahead of its time in many ways. If Poco had arrived on the scene in the early '90s, they would have been kings of the country charts. ...
