Crossover, thy name is Downing. PLEASURES of the night, a collaboration between vocalist Will Downing and sax/flute wizard Gerald Albright, crosses so many genre lines that its appeal must be unprecedentedly broad. With the able assistance of ace jazz drummer Marvin "Smitty" Smith, pianist Patrice Rushen and others, Downing and Albright combine contemporary R&B, top 40 pop, lite jazz and traditional pop vocal stylings on an album that, for all its stylistic wandering, remains undeniably cohesive. Backed by the warm, fluid filigrees of Albright, Downing turns the Beatles' classic "Michelle" into a jazz tune, turns Sinatra-esque on "The Nearness of You" and makes a convincing R&B loveman on the sensuous "Stop, Look & Listen to Your Heart."

Pleasures Of The Night album
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan ...
| | Steve Cole Ny La CD (2003)
Pleasures Of The Night CD music
$9.09 Burgeoning smooth jazz superstar Steve Cole continues to bridge the gap between pop-jazz and classic R&B on his third studio album, NY LA. Featuring strong melodic statements and truly funky keyboards via the likes of Brian Culbertson and Marquis "Hami" Dair, NY LA is a moody and solid affair. From the disco-influenced "Off Broadway," which harkens back to the best work of the Crusaders, to the Donald Byrd-esque "Interlude IV," tenor saxophonist ...

Pleasures Of The Night CD music
$10.45 Talk about being in the right place at the right time -- the way Long Beach, CA metallists Droid got signed was by playing a show at the Whisky-A-Go-Go, which was attended by Korn guitarist Munky. It just so happened that the man known for his admiration of seven-string guitars was also scouting bands to sign to his about-to-be-launched label, Emotional Syphon Recordings, and Droid was the first act to get the nod (and as an added bonus, ...
| | Depths From CD (2008)
Pleasures Of The Night music CDs
$9.59 After leading Relapse Records’ extreme metal band Uphill Battle, guitarist Adi Tejada was looking for something deeper. In 2006, he reunited with high school friend and guitar-mate Cabe Fletcher—former member of cult emo band The Embassy—and the two spent well over a year fine-tuning the lineup to create the dark, post-rock sound they were looking for. The first member to fall into place was Jeff Sullivan, a well-versed drummer who had played and recorded for years in rock, garage punk and altcountry bands. After months of auditioning vocalists, ...
