Lynyrd Skynyrd's Double Trouble collects some of the band's career highlights into a value-priced CD, including: "Gimme Three Steps," "You Got That Right," "Comin Home," and the title track. "One More Time," "Down South Jukin'," and "Am I Losin'" are some of the other worthwhile tracks on this brief compilation. The late Ronnie Van Zant screams "ya shore got that right!" on the familiar leadoff track on this compilation. This Southern party anthem, along with "Gimme Three Steps" (a tale of bar room debauchery with a killer guitar lick), are the only two FM staples in this collection. So if you're seeking a single CD compilation from this legendary band but can't listen to "Freebird" one more time, look no further than DOUBLE TROUBLE.
The guitar triumvirate of Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, and Steve Gaines is featured on "One More Time", with its female background harmonies. "All I Can Do Is Write About It", from GIMME BACK MY BULLETS, is a beautiful backroad country-flavored ballad, complete with fiddle. "Am I Losin'," keeping things mellow and somber, features tight harmonies and is about the death of a best friend. The title track is foot-stomping honky-tonk with an impressive guitar arrangement. "Comin' Home", a sad tale of life on the road, ends this understated compilation.
