| | Pure Disco 3 CD
The PURE DISCO series traffics unabashedly in nostalgia, returning listeners to the days of the glitter ball and the polyester suit with disco classics from their youth (or their parents' or older siblings' youth). This third volume is just as giddy a retro-journey as its two predecessors. For trepidatious rockers, there's Blondie's crossover hit "Heart of Glass." Fans of the Philly sound will be pleased by the inclusion of Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes' "The Love I Lost." And those with no qualms about dipping into the kitschiest realms of disco culture will positively revel in the presence of such classics as Irene Cara's "Fame" and of course the Village People's "In the Navy."

Compilation producers: Michael Cohen, Bill Levenson, Denis McNamara.

After racking up their biggest success to date with We're an American Band, Grand Funk Railroad decided to keep a good thing going by retaining Todd Rundgren as their producer and continuing to push their sound in a pop/rock direction. The end result has its moments but is not as strong as We're an American Band. Although the songs are tight and benefit from a strong performance by the group, the material simply isn't as inspired this time out: songs like "Please Me" and "Getting Over You" are energetic but lack the infectious hooks and clever arrangement touches that would make them stick in the listener's memory. Shinin' On's best songs are the ones that became its single releases: the title track infuses its hard-driving, spacy rock groove with some surprisingly ethereal vocal harmonies and the cover of "The Loco Motion" turns this dance classic on its ear with a stomping ...

$13.55 The Force is with us in EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH, the final chapter of the six-part STAR WARS series, which began a long time ago (1977) in a galaxy far, far away... and is now complete in its cyclical perfection. This visually awe-striking kaleidoscope of interplanetary imagination features the unmatched digital animation and special effects of George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic. With pink and orange skies casting a golden sheen over magnificent landscapes through which space ships dart and light sabers flash, the spectacle of the film, while hypnotizing, is but a complement to the intense, crucial plot.

| | Highway Nine Fine Wines CD (2005)
Pure Disco 3 CD music
$16.49 Highway originated in The Region, a tough blue-collar area southeast of Chicago where hundreds of bands battle for exposure and gigs. They have risen to the challenge, delivering powerful onstage shows week after week, year after year. Highway has tapped into the primal source of rock music, the blues, and followed its evolution through seminal bands such as The Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones and Cream. Their original music acknowledges their musical debt to these bands without sacrificing passion and freshness. Highway has further distinguished itself by playing the GABBA Fest in Macon Georgia. They have shared the stage with Jackyl and Lynyrd Skynyrd and played the Tommy Jeans stage at Chicago's Tweeter Center. Their original songs have been aired on WXRT Radio in Chicago and KOOL 101.9 Radio in Indianapolis. Seeing Highway live, the first impression is that there is no star in Highway- in truth, ...
