Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Second Audio Track; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack Spanish; English Subtitles; Behind The Scenes Two children and the ship's cook are marooned on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean. Shortly after coming ashore the old man dies, leaving the boy and the girl to fend for themselves. The two quickly adjust to their surroundings, using survival techniques they learned from the old man before his death. As time passes, the kids enter puberty and begin to discover their sexuality. Without realizing what's happening to her, Em becomes pregnant and gives birth. With the baby comes responsibility and the wonder of discovery, as the parents, themselves still children, learn what it means to have another human life dependent on them. Two youngsters are shipwrecked in the South Pacific and amid the breathtaking scenery they discover their own sexuality. Academy Award Nominations: Best Cinematography. In Metrocolor. Blue Lagoon Reviews: "...A beautifully mounted production, a low-keyed love story stressing the innocent eroticism of Brooke Shields and newcomer Christopher Atkins..."

A beautiful film, plain and simple... Submitted by frank (Norway) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Wonderful movie The quality of the DVD is amazing for the colors are brighter, the fuzziness is gone, and everything seems to be much clearer. Special features give wonderful insight to how the movie was made, what the actors went through while making it, and the deep impact that the film had on their lives. Best romance movie of all time This has been a favorite of mine for over a decade and now that the DVD has come out, I could enjoy it for many more decades to come! The DVD is excellent in that it introduces footage about the making of The Blue Lagoon and interviews with the two stars. This movie deserves 10 stars at least, thank you for keeping it alive!!! Simply beautifull A beautifull film, heartworming experience indeed. Good chemistry between the two lead actors. Enjoyed a lot. Hard to forget such a beautifull movie Submitted by Ben (Scotland) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
This is a terrible movie. How anybody can even consider this above two stars is mind-blowing, let alone a full five. I don't even know where to start.
Emmeline and Richard, cousins (I think?), become lost on a tropical island after something strange involving fire happens to their ship (this is never really made clear). Along with them is the ship's robust old cook, Paddy. Paddy's character is not really clear, but he sort of just conforms to what the script calls for at any time. He is a father-figure, a raging drunk, a pervert (he chases the yound Emmeline and Richard down the beach telling them to take their clothes off), and an architect all in one. But, tragically, Paddy dies of somethingorother involving a barrel and a spider and another island and some unfortunate sleep-walking, and the kids are left to fend for themselves in a wilderness suspiciously devoid of any living things besides mangos.
Of course, our young protagonists do a bang-bang job of surviving after the loss of their dear Paddy. They manage to build a three-story, weather proof house, complete with numerous front porches. Richard Hunts and Emmeline twiddles her thumbs as she waits for puberty. They spend their free time swimming nude in the ocean and, lo and behold, grow into lustful teenagers; Richard a strapping young lad of unnaturally large biceps, and Emmeline a beautiful, scantily-clad young woman. Emmeline, somehow, without the conveniences of modern bathrooms, manages to mantain meticulously-groomed fingernails and silky-smooth legs. Her hair, however, remains thoroughly uncombed.
As Emmeline and Richard grow, they find that they are having funny feelings for eachother. The budding teenagers can't explain their feelings, and neither, really, can the audience. Emmeline, in some of the worst immitations of teenager flirting ever recorded in America, tells Richard that she's been having weird feelings for him. But, bashfully, she tells him that they are just feelings, and don't mean anything. Richard is having similair feelings for Emmeline, but refuses to admit it and, instead, hurls into unexplainable fits of adolescent rage, throwing things and yelling and even managing both at the same time.
And... on and on the movie plods. Never stopping but never really getting anywhere, either. This movie is so laughably pathetic that it's almost worth watching, just so that you can tell your friends you have seen the worst movie ever made.

$7.39 Amanda (Monica Potter) is a nice, regular girl who moves to New York to work as an art restorer, and begins sharing an apartment with four quirky roommates who are all fashion models. She keeps bumping into Jim Winston (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), the seriously cute boy who lives in the apartment building across the street, who weakens her knees and fumbles her words. Having resolved herself to hopelessly peeping through his window, Amanda's sympathetic and seriously fashionable roommates finally dress her and make her up to crash a party he's throwing. Relaxed and feeling beautiful, Amanda finally speaks to Jim, and he at last discovers her charms and asks her out. Returning to her apartment on cloud nine later that evening, she spies him apparently committing a murder, and calls the police. The cops assume Amanda ...

BATAAN: A group of doomed Americans and Filipinos hold a bridge against invading Japanese. Supposedly based on a true incident, over-the-top patriotism made it a Hollywood blockbuster of the war era, despite a pretty fake-looking jungle. Avoid the colorized version.
BACK TO BATAAN: In BACK TO BATAAN, John Wayne plays Colonel Joe Madden, a rough tough officer serving under General MacArthur during the Second World War. When American forces are forced to pull out of Bataan, Madden volunteers to stay behind and organize the Filipino residents into a top flight guerilla ...
