Tommy Movie Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) FAROUT MAN This is a cool classic This movie is a classic, for it takes you back to a time where most of the world only cared about 3 things and those of us from the "HEAVY TRIP" age know what those 3 things are and life seemed easy then, unlike now but still it's a good movie you might want to own it. A Great Work of Art Kick back, turn up the volume and enjoy. This is the kind of movie you can play all weekend while you have friends over and clean your house. Elton John, Tina Turner, Ann Margaret, and Eric Clapton are all fantastic. Great choreography, design, and music. Delightful campy fun! Great Music (and aesthetically pleasing to boot) This may seem quite superficial, but let's face it - Roger Daltrey still played the Sex God while trying to portray Tommy, the deaf, dumb, and blind boy. When he belts out "I'm Free" and runs down the beach topless, a girl can't help but feel butterflies in her stomach. Nevertheless, the music in this rock opera if fantastic. Elton John and Tina Turner are completely fabulous in their performances!

This classic rock opera is brought energetically to life by an outstanding cast including many stars of the rock music industry. Told through the remarkable music of The Who, this is the story of Tommy, who, when just a boy of six, wit¬nessed the murder of his father by his mother (Ann-Margret) and her lover (Oliver Reed). They command him, “You didn’t hear it, you didn’t see it, and you won’t say anything to any¬one…” As a result, the traumatized boy retreats into the shadows of his mind and becomes deaf, dumb and blind. Growing into manhood, Tommy (Roger Daltrey) is subjected to several bizarre cure attempts by The Acid Queen (Tina Turner), the Preacher (Eric Clapton), and the Specialist (Jack Nicholson). In spite of his handicap, Tommy defeats the Pinball Wizard (Elton John) and becomes the champ, attaining a devoted following. When he is finally cured, he is hailed by his fans as a “Messiah.”

$10.39 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
The definitive rock opera, TOMMY liberated the Who from a "singles band" stigma, marking them as a substantial artistic force. Composer Pete Townshend had flirted with the conceptual format on two previous releases, but here his vision is spread over two ambitious records that play to the Who's main strengths. Anthems such as the raucous "Pinball Wizard" and the surprisingly serene "I'm Free" emphasize the kinetic power of the band, while Townshend's cast of characters (the perverted Uncle Ernie, the inscrutable Tommy) reveals a wild and unconventional imagination. Townshend even incorporates Sonny Boy Williamson's "Eyesight to the Blind" as part of his fable about the "deaf, dumb, and blind kid," making a successful reference to the past in what is an undeniably groundbreaking and forward-looking achievement.

| | Roger Waters - In The Flesh Live DVD (2001)
Tommy review
$9.69 The mastermind of post-Syd Barrett Pink Floyd, Roger Waters mixed psychedelic rock with operatic sensibilities. IN THE FLESH LIVE is a high definition concert film which utilizes the most advanced audiovisual technology. Touring in the United States after a 12 year break, Waters performs dozens of his progressive hits from both his solo and Pink Floyd days, including "Mother," "Welcome to the Machine," "The Bravery of Being Out of Range," and the title track.
This video, taken from Waters' first USA tour in 12 years (1999-2000), was taken from the highly acclaimed "In the Flesh" show that presented, for the first time, a comprehensive overview of Waters music, including early Pink Floyd material, classical compositions, less well-known pieces, as well as the debut of a new song, "Each ...

Tommy DVD
$20.09 Although generally not as highly regarded by the critics as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, or the Who, the Kinks may well have influenced far more musicians. The three-chord sledgehammer proto-metal burst of teenage lust called "You Really Got Me," the Kinks' third single and first hit, touched off a garage band explosion, which in turn influenced the rise of punk a decade later. Blessed with an astute songwriter in Ray Davies, the Kinks followed the template of "You Really Got Me" for a couple years, racking up hits with "All Day and All of the Night," "Tired of Waiting for You," and "Till the End of the Day." But Davies had more than one card in his pocket, and he blossomed into a sharp social satirist ("Dedicated Follower of Fashion"). By the time the album The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society was released in 1968, Davies had become a master of elegiac studies in English suburbia. The gender-bending "Lola" was a big hit in 1970 and the Kinks entered the video era in 1983 with "Come Dancing" and its memorable video. The Ultimate Collection spans the group's career in two discs, including the hits, B-sides, and key album tracks. ~ Steve Leggett
Arguably the finest and most expansive Kinks collection on the market! The first disc of this double-disc begins with their third single and first No. 1, the insistent 'You Really Got Me', then races through the glory years with the absurdly infectious likes of 'Sunny Afternoon', 'Waterloo Sunset', 'Lola' and 'Apeman'. Dave's two hits are included, too, and the disc ends with 'Come Dancing' and other selections from The Kinks' early-80s comeback. Disc Two includes songs that were hits for others ('David Watts' and 'Stop Your Sobbing'), various B-sides and other rarities, including 'God's Children', from the soundtrack of Percy, a movie about a fellow seeking the original ...
| | Led Zeppelin - DVD DVDs (2003)
Tommy movie DVD
$22.75 Very few Led Zeppelin performances were caught on camera during the band's life-span, but the footage that has been preserved for posterity is collected on this release. With a running time of over five-and-a-half hours, this is the definitive word on Zep's global stage-straddling performances. The footage is taken from London's Royal Albert Hall in January 1970, London's Earls Court in May 1975, Knebworth in August 1979, and Madison Square Garden in July 1973. Guitarist Jimmy Page has taken great care to restore, remix, and remaster the sound from these shows, providing a visual and sonic assault that offers indisputable proof of Led Zeppelin's reputation as a rock & roll behemoth. Additional footage comes in the shape of several television interviews, a bootleg shot of the band performing "Heartbreaker," behind the scenes footage from Knebworth, and a whole lot more.
This 2-DVD boxed set features a variety of live+ programming. Disc 1 includes Live at the Royal Albert hall, 1969, also ...

| | Bye Bye Birdie DVDs (1963) Widescreen
Tommy review
$9.79 This entertaining musical, based on the Broadway hit inspired by the hysteria surrounding Elvis Presley's induction into the army, traces the shock waves a drafted rock & roll star, Conrad Birdie (Jesse Pearson), creates when he comes to a small town to kiss adoring fan Kim McAfee (Ann-Margret) good-bye on national TV. A fiesty secretary, Rosie DeLeon (Janet Leigh), has put the whole plan in motion, hoping that Birdie will sing a song composed by her beau, Albert Peterson (Dick Van Dyke), enabling Rosie's boyfriend to finally break free of his domineering mother (Maureen Stapleton) and marry her. Meanwhile, Kim's new steady, Hugo (Bobby Rydell), is less than pleased about the spotlighted embrace, as are her parents (Paul Lynde and Mary LaRoche)--at least until they get in on the action too. Ed Sullivan appears as himself, Ann-Margret is her usual perky, gyrating self, Van Dyke amply displays his wealth of talents, and Lynde and Stapleton nearly steal the whole production with their hilarious supporting roles. Director George Sidney, who would soon collaborate with the real King in the Presley tour de force VIVA LAS VEGAS, tightens the Broadway original without losing any of its verve and charm to create a rollicking ...

$16.79 KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: Director Ridley Scott confronts hundreds of years of religious conflict in KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. An epic film set in Europe and the Middle East, the story follows one man's struggle to better himself and the world around him. Orlando Bloom stars as Balian, a French blacksmith who is mourning the deaths of his wife and baby when his estranged nobleman father (Liam Neeson) arrives and asks him to join the Crusades in Jerusalem. Mindful that conducting the Lord's work will help him atone for his sins, Balian agrees, and embarks on the perilous journey. Along the way, he reveals his gifts of inherent goodness and fair treatment of all human beings. Upon reaching Jerusalem, a city where his meager beginnings no longer matter, Balian earns respect and fealty, while the evil Guy de Lusignan (Marton Csokas) looks down his aristocratic nose at the former laborer.
As he did in GLADIATOR, Scott explores the theme of a man who chooses his fate, instead of accepting the fate given to him at birth. Balian comes to life in Jerusalem, protecting the weak and defenseless as his father told him he must, and catching the eye of the beautiful Princess Sibylla (Eva Green), unhappily married to de Lusignan. Scott paints a stirring portrait of the struggle over Jerusalem among Christians, Jews, and Muslims. In doing so, he also shows the passionate fight for religious freedom. KINGDOM OF HEAVEN ably handles these delicate issues, effectively treating characters from all factions as individuals and not as stereotypes. By placing a virtuous man at the center of this conflict, Scott creates a powerful, universal story.
CRUSADERS: An Italian made-for-TV movie with high production values, CRUSADERS is the exciting tale of three friends who find themselves torn apart by the wars of the 11th century. When Pope Urban II calls for a Christian war against the Saracens, Peter (Alessandro Gassman), Andrew (Thure Riefenstein), and Richard (Johannes Brandrup) join the Crusaders in order to see the Holy Land of Jerusalem, which the Saracens now occupy. The three come from very different backgrounds: Peter is a humble bell founder, Andrew is a shepherd, and Richard is the very religious son of the wealthy Baron William of Aurocastro. The friends are alienated by the violent methods of the Crusaders; Richard and Peter desert, while Andrew stays on. The two friends join the beautiful young Jewish woman, Rachel (Barbora Bobulova), on her way to Jerusalem, but once there, ...
