109 minute feature film DVD starring Ian Hart, James Bolam and Julianne Moore. Jordan's adaptation of Greene's famous novel, set in a moody 1946 London, tells the tale of novelist Maurice Bendrix (Fiennes). After a random meeting with the husband of his ex-lover Sarah (Moore), Bendrix is once again drawn into her web, trying to discover for himself the reason she aborted their relationship two years before. The reintroduction of Maurice into Sarah's life fills her with confusion, forcing her to come to terms with her past decision, and challenging her to objectively deal with her deteriorating health. Jordan (THE CRYING GAME) definitely turns up the steam for this one. End Of The Affair Reviews: "...A faithful adaptation that captures the haunting spirit and religious nature of the 1951 novel..."
-- Emanuel Levy, Variety "...Beautifully evocative..." -- 4 out of 5 stars
-- Neil Smith, Total Film "...The movie stands with Jordan's most polished work....The acting harmonizes perfectly with his ripely romantic tone..."
-- David Sterritt, Film Comment "...Plenty to admire, especially Moore..." -- 3 out of 5 stars
-- Christopher Kelly, Premiere "...THE END OF THE AFFAIR may be the perfect Valentine's film for everyone -- an anguished period love story with spiritual undercurrents..."
-- Robin Rauzi, Los Angeles Times "...Handsomely mounted, literate, emotionally sophisticated, THE END OF THE AFFAIR has everything a period romance should have, including a Michael Nyman score and passionate performances by stars Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore..."
-- Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

$8.55 In Tim Burton's stylish, creepy retelling of the classic Washington Irving story, SLEEPY HOLLOW, Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is a squeamish, bookish 18th century New York City investigator sent to a small town in lower Westchester county to look into three mysterious decapitations. When the always rational Crane arrives at the little Dutch village, he finds that most of the townsfolk believe the culprit to be the Headless Horseman, the ghost of a monstrous Hessian soldier (Christopher Walken), who seems to be mysteriously tied in to one of the town's most prominent ...

$10.69 Imaginative theology and a bigger-than-usual budget make Kevin Smith's (CHASING AMY, CLERKS) fourth film a kind of post-Catholic fantasy that only a comic-book enthusiast of his caliber could dream up. It concerns banished angels, Loki (Matt Damon) and Bartleby (Ben Affleck) who, after a few millennia in Wisconsin, discover a loophole in Catholic doctrine that would allow them back into heaven--but prove the fallibility of God and destroy the universe. As they ...

End Of The Affair movie DVD
$28.65 Director Peter Brook's faithful adaptation of William Golding's 1954 novel stars James Aubrey and Tom Chapin as antagonists Ralph and Jack, respectively. When a plane carrying 30-odd British schoolboys out of a war zone crashes on an island, all the adults are killed. The boys organize for survival, naming Ralph as their chief, in charge of providing fire and shelter. Jack is designated to lead a group of boys to hunt the wild pigs that roam the island. Almost inevitably, as time passes, the two boys, representatives of civilization and savagery, begin a deadly struggle for dominance. The frequently invoked image of life as a "war of all against all," in which civility is merely another weapon in the battle to gain one's ends, is given a particularly disturbing ...
