There, she draws the attention of dysfunctional outcasts Nancy, Bonnie and Rochelle -- and discovers that they, like her, can perform "the craft." By joining their clique, Robin provides the last of the four elements (earth, fire, air, water) needed for the girls to concoct magic spells.
Armed with this new supernatural ability, the bewitched quartet set out to make life a living hell for the students who taunted and abused them in the past. Revenge is indeed sweet, that is until a power struggle begins between Sarah and Nancy....
Four teenage girls, outsiders in their clique-ridden religious school, find an outlet for their pent-up hostilities when they form a supernatural coven. Armed with the power of "the craft," these novice witches gleefully take vengeance on their enemies, but ultimately their indiscriminate use of power catches up to them. Released theatrically in the USA May 3, 1996.
Color by Technicolor.

$8.55 In Tim Burton's stylish, creepy retelling of the classic Washington Irving story, SLEEPY HOLLOW, Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is a squeamish, bookish 18th century New York City investigator sent to a small town in lower Westchester county to look into three mysterious decapitations. When the always rational Crane arrives at the little Dutch village, he finds that most of the townsfolk believe the culprit to be the Headless Horseman, the ghost of a monstrous Hessian soldier (Christopher Walken), who seems to be mysteriously tied in to one of the town's most prominent families. Burton's natural instincts for campy humor, combined with the hauntingly gorgeous technical work (Emmanuel Lubezki's cinematography and Danny Elfman's score included), collide to create a work of exhilarating entertainment and poetic storytelling. Miranda Richardson, Casper Van Dien and Christina Ricci help make up an ensemble cast that, combined with the historically accurate village sets and dreamlike magic of the haunted Western Woods--created on the largest sound stage in film history--makes SLEEPY HOLLOW a visually stunning, gripping, and, at times, chilling film.

$9.79 Based on a Stephen King novella, the psychological thriller SECRET WINDOW is reminiscent of an Alfred Hitchcock film. Eccentric author Mort Rainey (Johnny Depp) finds his life spiraling out of control. With a drinking problem and a cigarette habit he can't shake, Mort can barely function when his wife (Maria Bello) leaves him and he abandons his work. In the midst of his anguish, a deranged man, John Shooter, (John Turturro) appears at Mort's New York cabin, claiming that Mort has plagiarized one of his stories. As his wife pushes Mort to finalize their divorce and Shooter systematically destroys his life, he struggles to restore order to an increasingly insane situation.
Playing off of Turturro who is superb as the crazed, Gothic Shooter, Johnny Depp shines in his role with a quirky, brilliant performance. The mannerisms he brings to Mort, such as a problem with a clenched jaw, makes the author's descent into madness compelling and believable. With an emphasis on character study over special effects, the chills provided by this film rely on skilled acting and evoke thrillers of earlier generations like PSYCHO and STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, including a shocking twist of an ending.

Craft movie DVD
$70.39 One of South Korea's most popular television mini-series, DAMO: THE UNDERCOVER LADY DETECTIVE is at once detective story, historical drama, soap opera, and martial arts epic. Set in 17th-century Korea, the series centers on heroine Chae-ohk (Ji-won Ha), a lower-class servant girl who works for the local police department and helps her commanding officer, Hwang-bo (Seo-jin Lee), solve some of his more difficult cases. Assigned to a routine counterfeiting case that leads her to a rebel group bent on overthrowing the government, Chae-ohk finds herself drawn to the class-struggle ideology of their charismatic leader, Sung-baek (Min-joon Kim), setting the stage for a swordplay-fueled showdown between her sense of duty and her longing for freedom. Though the plot may seem farfetched to Western viewers, the servant-girl-moonlights-as-undercover-cop storyline is rooted in actual Korean history for a unique but authentic spin on the detective genre.
