One of them, the tough-as-nails Legs Sadovsky, rallies the others into seeking revenge against the professor. The teens succeed, only to be ostracized and suspended from school.
The quintet then begins a downward spiral, as they kidnap and blackmail the father of one of the girls. This is an act the teens may regret, as they find themselves running from the law -- and fighting for their lives... Spurred by an independent newcomer, four female high school seniors in Portland assault a sexually harrassing teacher. Their resulting suspension leaves them with plenty of time to affirm their unity as rebels, get tattoos, drink whiskey, and generally wreak havoc on the rest of the community. Foxfire Movie Review  Beautiful and Moving Film
I highly recommend this film for any girl going through adolescence, or anyone who knows a girl who is. Sexual harrassment is so prominent and low self-esteem among young people so common, I think this film will have personal significance to a great many people. Although I watched it a bit after this period of my life, I felt so connected to this story! Unfortunately, the rating has made it unavailable to much of the audience that needs it most. In addition to the power of the film, it is beautifully shot with wonderful visual techniques, and has a great soundtrack! The best movie for teenage girls ever!
