Rated PG-13. 126 min. A visual feast combining ancient mysticism, cyberpunk sensibilities, flamboyant entertainment personalities, and gun-toting alien mercenaries. In the 23rd century, Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), an ex-special forces agent who now practices as a down-and-out cabbie, finds himself caught in a struggle to defy a prophesied Evil from destroying the Earth when a mysterious woman (Milla Jovovich) falls into the back seat of his cab. Pursued by both the government and a powerful magnate enlisted by the forces of Evil (Gary Oldman), the woman is the key to Earth's salvation, known only as the Fifth Element. This was French auteur Besson's first offering with Hollywood backing. Academy Award Nomination: Best Sound Effects Editing. Fifth Element Reviews: "...Besson's comic irreverence is welcome..."
-- Kim Newman, Sight and Sound "...Mr. Besson directs with ceaseless flamboyance and with an obvious enthusiasm for his film's comic book conceits..."
-- Janet Maslin, New York Times "...Luc Besson's kick-ass sci-fi jamboree works as hard as any movie can to ensure that we're completely, maximally entertained..."-- Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly "There's no doubt about it, when it comes to saving the world, Bruce Willis is your man. He does it with smarts and style, humor and courage..."
-- Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times "...Besson's future world is stuffed silly with visual pizzazz..."-- Jonathan Crocker, Total Film "Bruce Willis' taciturn hero and Milla Jovovich's super-femme still hold firm at the heart."

Best action movie This has to be one of the best movies ever.
It's funny, sad, and plenty of non stop action. I loved it when it first came out and still love watching it again. Submitted by a reviewer (Topeka, KS, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Highly Recommended PQ and Sound tour de force! I guess you either hate this film or love it. Me, I love this one. A fast paced, intelligent sci-fi action thrill ride through the galaxy 300 years in the future. Good vs. Evil and it all comes to a head on planet Earth. The characters are vibrant and engaging as is the story line. Now, I can not impress upon you how stunning the PQ is on this Blu-ray disk. True reference PQ. You will not find better than this. Same for the explosive and dynamic sound that will rock your speakers. This is a real treat for the senses and a lot of fun. You have to see and hear it for your self to believe this. It's a favorite movie -- way out there 'though! It's the wildest futuristic movie ever made. Crazy monsters, goofy looking costumes, but a mixture of a GOD theory and a beautiful singer (DIVA) who actually integrates Opera (Lucia de lamemore) with jazz and has a gorgeous voice. Wonderful love story too -- a great movie. Submitted by ampicob (San Francisco, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

Fifth Element film
$11.39 Dutch director Paul Verhoeven (TOTAL RECALL, ROBOCOP) mixes big budget bug bashing with twisted satire of old Hollywood movies in this adaptation of Robert Heinlein's classic sci-fi novel. It's the future, Earth is at war, and the kids are all going off to fight giant killer bugs on the remote planet of Klendathu. Casper Van Diem, Denise Richards, Dina Meyer, and Patrick Muldoon play some of the blandly attractive young recruits who engage in soap-opera style love triangles as they toughen up and learn to fight (and die) like soldiers. Michael Ironside is their gung-ho, one-armed leader. The real stars though, are the superbly animated bugs. Packed to the rafters with jaw-dropping special effects and insane violence, the film managed to be a box office hit though it undoubtedly left ...

Fifth Element review
$10.29 In M. Night Shyamalan's THE SIXTH SENSE, Bruce Willis plays Dr. Malcolm Crowe, a successful Philadelphia child psychologist who is haunted by the sudden reappearance and suicide of a former patient. Months later Dr. Crowe encounters Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), a troubled, withdrawn young boy who bears a striking similarity to his earlier patient. Dr. Crowe is compelled to help Cole, not only for the boy's sake, but for his own redemption. As Dr. Crowe struggles to determine what torments Cole, he must also come to terms with his increasingly distant relationship to his wife (Olivia Williams). Meanwhile, Cole is unable to describe the horrible things he sees even to his worried mother (Toni Collette). The scene where Cole finally tells Dr. Crowe about his supernatural secret is one of the 1990s most quoted and well-known cinematic moments.
A gripping ghost story with a stunning finale, THE SIXTH SENSE became a surprise blockbuster shortly after its release. The film features Oscar-nominated performances by the startlingly intense Osment and the fiercely maternal Collette, ...

$10.29 Michael Bay, the master of the big-budget blockbuster, directs this action film that is packed with emotion. With a planet-killing asteroid on a collision course with Earth, it's up to a motley crew of scientists and oil drillers (yes, oil drillers) to save the earth. With 18 days to impact, a team from NASA (led by Billy Bob Thornton) frantically tries to find a solution but ends up turning to an outside contractor. Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) and his team of oilmen are called upon to save the planet as only they can. ARMAGEDDON may ...

Fifth Element movie DVD
$8.29 With THE MATRIX, the Wachowskis have established themselves as innovative filmmakers who push the boundaries of live-action films. Like the groundbreaking STAR WARS, THE MATRIX (also the first film of a trilogy) showcases a unique visual style, one the Wachowskis achieved through an array of techniques and digital effects, some never before seen in mainstream Hollywood films. Although computer morphing technology had been used before in films such as THE ABYSS and TERMINATOR 2, the Wachowskis were the first to use "bullet time," a time-bending digital effect that utilizes both computer-generated imagery and still photography.
The film itself is a complex story that aspires to mythology, focusing on a computer hacker named Neo (Keanu Reeves) who searches for the truth behind the mysterious force known as the Matrix. He finds his answer with a group of strangers led by the charismatic Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne). What they encounter in confronting that truth makes for a lightning-paced, eye-popping thrill ride of a movie. Packed with ...
