Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English When Steven Kovacs orders cable TV for his apartment, he has no idea how much he'll regret it. That's because the installer sent to his home is Chip Douglas, a lonely, lisping, parasitic geek, who just might be psychotic. Chip immediately bonds with vulnerable milquetoast Steve -- and then refuses to leave him alone. Chip's wild behavior proceeds to make his victim's life a living hell, and even jeopardizes Steve's attempt to reconcile with his girlfriend.
How far will Chip go... and will Steve ever put his foot down? When a young urbanite calls to order cable TV for his apartment he gets much more than he bargained for, as the demented title character arrives and proceeds to insinuate his way into the beleaguered customer's life. Raised by television as a child and starved for human contact, the "cable guy" is a darkly hilarious carnation of the modern age. Carey's manic karaoke rendition of Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody to Love" is a twisted highlight. Released theatrically in the USA June 14, 1996.
A Bernie Brillstein/Brad Grey production in association with Licht/Mueller Film Corp.
Color by Technicolor; shot in widescreen and SDDS (Sony Dynamic Digital Sound).
Additional cast: Harry O'Reilly (Hal) and Misa Koprova (Heather).
Although Judd Apatow only received a credit as producer he also was one of the film's writers. He was denied a screenwriting credit by the Writers Guild of America and challenged the ruling, claiming that he wrote much of the movie's dialogue and many of the scenes.
Rated BBFC 12 by the British Board of Film Classification. Cable Guy Quotes/Excerpts: "I can be your best friend or your worst enemy." -- Chip Douglas (JIM CARREY), to Steven Kovacs (MATTHEW BRODERICK).
My name is Ernie Douglas, but my friends call me Chip." -- Chip Douglas (JIM CARREY), to Steven Kovacs (MATTHEW BRODERICK).
"I never knew my father, but the old TV was always there for me." -- Chip Douglas (JIM CARREY). Cable Guy Reviews: "...Amusing....Stiller works with craftsmanly precision..."

A Personal Favorite!!! The Cable Guy is one of my favorite movies to watch because it's such a good movie. I mean no one else could have played the cable guy better than Jim Carrey, which I think is one of his best performances in his career. I mean I thought everything in this movie was excellent. The acting, story, dialogue was perfect. I think a lot of people do not like this movie because most people don't understand this humor or this type of movie. This movie isn't gut busting or anything like that but it is funny and worth the time and cash. You may not like it the first time you watch it so give it some time to grow on you. Personally I think this is my favorite Jim Carrey movie. It's too bad he dosen't do more movies like this more often. Plus there is a funny kareoke scene in this movie which has Jim Carrey singing pretty well. So don't listen to the critics about this movie. This movie is good and worth the time. So overall buy this movie, order a pizza, pull out the chocolate milk, sit on your couch and have a good time watching this movie. $16.09 R. was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. "I'm Your Angel" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. "When A Woman's Fed Up" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
R. Kelly proves that he's as prolific as he is talented on the two-disc set R., which not only culls together his most noteworthy and successful work, but is bursting with new tracks as well. Filled from start to finish with Kelly's unique blend of smooth vocal stylings and no-nonsense lyrical stance, this album also features the work of a few of his prominent friends--the opener, "Home Alone" sports a guest rap courtesy of Keith Murray, while "Money Makes The World Go Round" is graced by Nas.
A more mainstream pairing is witnessed in the dramatic show stopper "I'm your Angel," which finds Kelly alongside superstar Celine Dion, but the collaboration which really makes its mark is "We Ride," which features Cam'Ron, Noreaga, Jay-Z and Vegas Cats in a veritable who's who of Hip Hop's brightest stars. As if all this weren't ...
