Southern Soul Sisters
$26.19 Includes a five track bonus CD.
Personnel includes: Tracy Chapman (vocals, guitar, electric guitar, electric banjo, clarinet, bass); Joe Gore (electric guitar, ukelele, piano); Greg Leisz (electric pedal steel, baritone guitar, dobro); Matt Brubeck (cello); Patrick Warren (accordion, tac piano); Patrick Warren (piano, organ, keyboards); Michael Webster (piano, vibraphone); Larry Taylor (upright bass); John Parish (bass); Joey Waronker (drums, tambourine, shaker, sound effects); Jeanie Tracy (background vocals). Recorded at The Paint Studios, Sausalito, California. U.K. edition includes a five track bonus disc. Irrespective of the ups and downs of her career, Tracy Chapman has had one thing going for her that a number of singer/songwriters lack: a major label. This assures that she'll always get what every performer wants: a fair hearing and perhaps even radio exposure. On Let It Rain, Chapman turns in another introspective album that flows quietly from track to track and will remind listeners of New Beginning (1995) and Telling Stories (2000). The album begins with a sequence of warm, easygoing songs. "Another Sun" finds a slow, bluesy groove that perfectly matches Chapman's soulful lyric, while "In the Dark" explores the murky undercurrent of relationships. There's a loose quality to many of Chapman's lyrics, meaning that a number of things can be read into them. On the title cut, she expresses an openness to everything that the ...
| | Peter Green Blues By Green CD (2003)
Southern Soul Sisters
$9.65 Live Recording
Personnel: Peter Green (vocals, electric guitar); Dave Mattacks (drums); Morris Pert (percussion); Fleetwood Mac. Includes liner notes by Greg Russo. Liner Note Author: Greg Russo. Here is yet another Peter Green collection comprised mainly of material from 1979 through 1983, with the thoroughly enjoyable Fleetwood Mac A-side "Man of the World," from 1969, included for some inexplicable reason. The material here is culled from Green's first return to recording after a six-year hiatus for personal and mental health reasons. The Peter Green who returned to the scene on In the Skies was a leaner and meaner player. His concern was more with the atmospherics of playing blues-inflected material than with the attack of the ...

Southern Soul Sisters
$15.65 Live Recording
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Personnel: Duke Robillard (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Jay Geils (electric guitar); Gerry Beaudoin (vocals, electric guitar, 7-string guitar); John Turner (double bass); Gordon Grottenthaler (drums). Liner Note Author: Ted Drozdowski. This unassuming and delightful little album visits a time when jazz and blues were still directly entwined, drawing on the ghosts of guitarists like Charlie Christian, Eddie Durham, Bill Jennings, Tiny Grimes, Barney Kessel, and Kenny Burrell, guitarists who used the blues to enrich the jazz pieces they played on, a kind of ensemble contribution ...

| | Christina Ray Who I Wanna Be CD (2007)
Southern Soul Sisters
$12.39 Christina Ray is a Singer-songwriter from Huntington Beach, California (www.christina-ray.com) who has been recognized by VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation, after winning First Place in the Country division for VH-1’s Song of the Year Contest with the featured song, "Do You Ever Love Me?". With a simple arrangement of vocals and a guitar, this was a confirmation to pursue the dream of songwriting. Her debut album (released April 24, 2007), “Who I Wanna Be” is a mix of Contemporary Country songs – below the radar and off the charts! Of the 11 tracks, Christina wrote all but one – Undeniably Wild, which was written by Sue Cross and Peter Dobson (also featured on CD Baby, check them out!) As an unsigned artist, Christina strives to further her songwriting career. She enjoys writing solo or with co-authors. Christina Ray, Keith Adams and Peter Dobson wrote featured song, “Those Wrangler Jeans!” Keith enjoys writing as a past time, while Peter teaches guitar, produces albums, writes, arranges and mixes. He is also singing background vocals in a couple of the songs. Peter can be found on occasion, in Laguna Beach at The Guitar Shoppe, where he is busy as a guitar instructor, amongst his many other talents. The musicians on this album are absolutely superb! Peter Dobson, both musician and producer, plays an array of guitars and truly adds dimension and direction to this album. Sue Cross plays a wonderful, warm bass and keeps the rhythm grounded. Michael Fickling turns it up a notch with his awesome drum playing, while Tom Bagley adds a beautiful touch with keys. Vocalist Larisa Evans, ...
