Bobby Rush is a no-holds-barred showman, and his R-rated live shows are an unforgettable (if politically incorrect) experience. That makes it a pity that this recording (like many of his others) is so forgettable. He takes blues standards, adds a few lyric snippets of his own, and transforms their melodies into virtually identical funky vamps. This quickly gets uninteresting. The extensive use of synthesizers doesn't help. And claiming authorship of songs that are so obviously mere adaptations of others' is a dubious practice. ~ Steve Hoffman

Living Blues (1-2/96, pp.58-59) - "...among all soul/blues modernists, Rush remains most firmly rooted in traditional blues..." One Monkey Don't Stop No Show Music Bobby Rush One Monkey Don't Stop No Show Songs One Monkey Don't Stop No Show Review

| | Jesse Thomason Exist CD (2006)
One Monkey Don't Stop No Show songs
$8.39 Jesse Thomason has been writing and performing songs for 11 years with various bands and artists. During the last 6 years he has released 3 E.P.s, written over 30 songs, toured throughout Texas and established Infiltrate Records as his own independent label for releasing records and self-promotion. The two singles from his second release âSay the Wordsâ and âBroken Moldâ were placed on the compilation for the National AIDS Awareness Group âHopeâs Voiceâ, which will be touring college campuses nationwide in 2006. He performs as a solo Acoustic/ Electric act, creating ambience and atmosphere that cascades into explosive moments- reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, David Gray, and Sting. Intricate finger style guitar lines and strong vocal delivery coincide to define his sound. His repertoire consists of original songs as well as covers from a wide array of classic and contemporary rock songs. With his latest self-titled E.P. he plans to tour the Western United States building a fan-base and bringing his music to new places. âI live my life in a dynamic relationship with my songs⊠I often sit down with my guitar and a song will write itself to me as a message. The words come from a place of depth that I do not understand, and time usually brings me back to that song to see it as a prophetic or clairvoyant guide. One such occurrence was when I wrote the song âWildflowerâ at 17 years old. This is a song about a betrayal and restoration through forgiveness and the power of love. At the time, I wanted to express the depths of my heart in seeing what forgiveness in a relationship can do. I was inspired by a dear friend of mine, and through the process I wrote a song that speaks so much more clearly ...

| | Alex Fry Like Gold Dust On My Soul CD (2007)
One Monkey Don't Stop No Show CD music
$6.69 Alex was born in a small village down south to a somewhat musical family. Music was always a huge part of her everyday life and so it wasnât long before she started to play various instruments. Her childhood was dominated by the sound of drums from her father and brothers incessant playing and so there was always a competition for the spotlight. Music at home was heavily influenced by her fathers love for country music.âFrom an early age I could sing word for word every Garth Brooks song. I loved it! My friends to this day still think Iâm mad.âOther huge musical influences were the likes of the legendary Frank Sinatra, the Dire Straits, Dr Hook and Mozart. âMy father had a very diverse taste in music and he would say â âthere are only two types of music, good and badâ I think he nicked that of Louis Armstrongâ At the age of twelve Alex joined the local Stage Coach, a weekend stage school for singing, dancing and drama.âI knew when I was very young that I was going to be a performer. I used to spend hours singing âThe Little Mermaidâ and making up dance routines to FlashdanceâIt wasnât until stage coach that she realised singing was her thing and like all young children she wanted a guitar to accompany her.âI remember getting my first guitar for Christmas, It was a Fender Stratocaster Squier. I never realised playing something was going to be so difficult and it wasnât long before I had almost given up with the guitar completelyâAlex continued to take lessons for years with a great teacher Andy Boulton who went on to become a great friend and incredibly influential person in Alexâs musical roots.â I did my first gig with Andy, I canât have been any older than 14 and absolutely petrified. I played Baker Street on the saxophone. It was fantasticâThere as a turning point in Alexâs life when someone so influential burst onto the scene and it was inevitable that she was to become a singer.âMy father came home one day clutching a record with a excited grin. It was the first time I had ever heard an Eva Cassidy record. Something inside me said âI want to be like thatâ and that was it. ...
