| | Vince Vance & The Valiants All I Want For Christmas Is You CD Vince Vance & The Valiants Discography of CDs
(12 Customer Reviews)
This album's title track remained a holiday favorite within the country community during the '90s, even as Vince Vance struggled to establish himself as more than a one-hit novelty act. Despite the artist's struggles, his song remains a minor modern classic and received airplay year after year. Nothing else here is remotely worth bothering with. Sure, most of the other songs are similar in style to the title track, but this formulaic sense of repetition gets dull quickly. Stick with the song and forget about the full-length album, unless this is the only place you can find the song. ~ Jason Birchmeier

All I Want For Christmas Is You music CDs
$11.49 Kottonmouth Kings' agenda is nothing if not single-minded. In their world, wholesale legalization of marijuana is, as Peter Tosh once put it, a must. And with ROLLIN' STONED, their fourth official full-length, there's no way they can be accused of not staying on-message. These Orange County, California dope fiends play a fully evolved mix of rap and hardcore with such no-brainer titles as "4-2-0" and "Light It Up." But their stoner aesthetic belies a savvy approach to both production and performance--there's no Grateful Dead-style excessive instrumental frippery in evidence here.
"Sleepers," with its Turkish Casbah ambience and triumphal told-you-so message to all the band's haters, both comes straight to the point ...

| | Emotions Songs Of Innocence And Experience CD (2004)
All I Want For Christmas Is You album
$17.19 This rerelease of the seminal techno band's classic tracks is an exclusive collection of the group's cancelled 1972 album.
An Emotions' LP titled Songs of Innocence and Experience was supposed to be released on the Stax subsidiary Volt in 1972. It would have been their third Stax album, but never appeared, though it's a pretty good guess that some of the material they recorded around this time (whether it was released right away or not) would have been included. Much or all of said material is on this 23-track CD, but the title's a little deceptive. It's not exactly the 'lost' album; it's not known for sure what the tracks would have been on the LP, and certainly it wouldn't have included all 23 of these selections. So what you get here are cuts that appeared on various 1970-75 singles, as well as some numbers exhumed from the vaults on LP and 45 by Fantasy in 1977, after that label had bought the Stax catalog. Making things even harder to keep straight, there are also six previously unreleased tracks, one (a demo of "As Long as I've Got You") dating all the way to their first Stax session. The whole head-spinning story is spelled out in the liner notes if you want it, but basically, it's a jumble of odds and ends by the group that didn't find their way on to LP while the Emotions were with the label. As it usually goes on archive collections like this, these aren't the best things the group did, though they're worthwhile for Emotions' fans or fans of the '70s Stax sound in general. "Shouting ...
