Radiation songs Product Information
Abandoning the acoustic approach of This Strange Engine, Marillion turns back toward the heavier sound of Afraid of Sunlight. Arguably influenced by Radiohead's 1997 album OK Computer, the album also shows a Beatles sound that lends more of a pop flavor than the band had shown before. "Answering Machine," "These Chains" and "Under the Sun" are appealing tracks, while "Three Minute Boy," yet another Marillion examination of the impact of fame, contains some of Steve Rothery's best guitar work in years. ...See Full Description

|RADIATION is a continuous work of genius that makes us extre|
RADIATION is Marillion's 10th studio album during their 16 year life span. We never really know what to expect from an upcoming Marillion album, therefore the high expectations that are reserved. Once again the degree of experimenting is steep which is a vital stimulator for one's mind. The line-up is the one we've known for the last 10 years: Steve Hogarth (h) on vocals and keyboards, Pete Trewavas on bass, acoustic guitar and clarinet, Ian Mosley on drums and percussion, Mark Kelly on keyboards and samples, and Steve Rothery on electric and acoustic guitars. The album sounds very retro, being this characteristic further enhanced by the use of analog keyboard wizardry and reverbs that emulate a 60-70's vibe on particular tracks. Marillion at one time or another have yielded hints to what bands have inspired them through the years. On a few tracks they literally spill the beans and indulge themselves on a platform that's influenced by the Beatles. They do this without cloning, unlike well known brit-pop bands, because they retain certain elements and add their own synergy to the songs.

As my headline suggests, I think that Radiation is really a great collection of Marillion's post-Fish Era.

||Radiation by Marillion|
As a huge Marillion fan, this was the only Marillion CD that I didn't have in my collection and when I saw that CD Universe had it in stock, I had to pick it up. Very middle of the road for Marillion, not their best or their worst. Just mainly to add to my catalouge of Marillion CD's mostly.

||Looking back at Radiation|
I recently re-purchased Radiation after having sold it years ago. I had considered it a weak offering by my beloved band. But Marillion's latest releases of Marbles, Somewhere Else, and the latest Happiness is the Road sparked memories of Radiation with it's blend of moody and racy passages. It was a trip down the 90's memory lane and I was delighted by it's youthfulness compared to richly mature aforementioned albums to come.
