Revolutionary Songs Of Latin America album
$7.59 On CRYSTAL PLANET Satch provides his fans with exactly what they've come to expect: crunching riffs, soaring melodies, chord changes and solos from heaven. He deviates little from such past releases as THE EXTREMIST and SURFING WITH THE ALIEN, and as the saying goes: "if it ain't broke". That's not to say he doesn't stay contemporary, as "Raspberry Jam Delta-V" effectively dabbles in electronica as subtle background noise.

| | Ry Cooder Chicken Skin Music CD (1976)
Revolutionary Songs Of Latin America music CDs
$10.89 Ry Cooder has always believed in the "mutuality in music," and this may be no more evident in his career than with his fifth album, Chicken Skin Music (a Hawaiian colloquialism, synonymous with goosebumps). Even more than usual, Cooder refuses to recognize borders -- geographical or musical -- presenting "Stand By Me" as a gospel song with a norteño arrangement, or giving the Jim Reeves country-pop classic, "He'll Have to Go," a bolero rhythm, featuring the interplay of Flaco Jimenez's accordion and Pat Rizzo's alto sax. Elsewhere, he teams with a pair of Hawaiian greats -- steel guitarist and singer Gabby Pahinui and slack key guitar master Atta Isaacs -- on the Hank Snow hit "Yellow Roses" and the beautiful instrumental "Chloe." If Cooder's approach to the music is stylistically diverse, his choice of material certainly follows suit. Bookended by a couple of Leadbelly compositions, Chicken Skin Music sports a collection of songs ranging ...

Revolutionary Songs Of Latin America album
$12.25 Born in the subway stations of Boston, MA, porterdavis has been consistently evolving into what is today, an infectious roots/ pop trio, well supported by their dedicated fans. They have the honesty of Bob Dylan, the soul and grit of Muddy Waters, the feel-good groove of Jack Johnson, but with a unique twist that sets them apart from anyone else. With hard work and dedication, and the quality music that is their foundation, porterdavis is sure to have a long and successful career in front of them.Dan Barrett is the primary songwriter for porterdavis. His lyrics are deep and authentic, his chord progressions are smooth, but intelligent, and the groove is always solid. He fronts the band with a bluesy baritone voice and a late model vintage telecaster. In addition to being a proficient musician, and a charismatic performer, Dan finds a niche in production as well. He is credited as the award-winning producer for Kristen Cifelli, Brian Webb, and Nate Borofsky (Girlyman). Dan graduated with a bachelor's degree in composition from the University of Massachusetts, where he also recorded his debut full-length album, Shadows. Mike Meadows provides the tight vocal harmonies of porterdavis, along with a variety of unusual percussion instruments. Mike has been singing professionally since he was five years old, beginning with the Atlanta Boy Choir. He went on to study drums and percussion at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Mike has performed and/or recorded with a wide variety of artists, including Ellis Paul, Yanka Rupkina, Drummassage, Brian Webb, and many others. With the recent addition of Simon Wallace on harmonica, porterdavis has organically expanded their style. Simon hails from a small town just outside of Cambridge, England, where he comes from a Blues background. At the 1999 U.K. National Harmonica Competition, Simon was crowned National Harmonica Champ in the Blues/ Rock category. During this time he performed with the UK-based Red House Blues Band, while also doing solo shows. After spending a year living in Holland, ...
