Rise Up! album
$10.65 THE IDEAL COPY has 7 extra tracks, 4 songs from the "Snakedrill" EP and 3 live songs.
Following its 1979 record 154, Wire, hitherto one of punk rock's brightest lights, disappeared. Despite a live album in 1981 and a seven-inch single, it wasn't until 1986's SNAKEDRILL EP that any new studio tracks by the band surfaced. The EP signaled a new direction, as the band largely abandoned its punk pedigree and focused more on the artier side of its music, complete with all-but-impenetrable lyrics. THE IDEAL COPY was originally released in 1987, and most of its subsequent CD editions contain ...

Rise Up! music CDs
$10.75 Bobby Conn's act is approximately two parts rock show and one part performance art. Not that he interrupts his songs to do interpretive dances, or smear his chest with chocolate, or any other truly wild formal experimentation. But he does, it appears, assume a stage character for thematic purposes. Conn claims to believe he is the Antichrist, and preaches a strange sort of hyper-capitalist anti-ethics which are most easily interpreted as a parody of the corporate mindset. He sticks by this philosophy in the few offstage interviews he grants, and a significant percentage of Conn's entertainment value comes from trying to figure out if he really believes what he says. This odd brand of audience interaction is not the only way in which Conn's music is experimental, however. A regular in Chicago's hip Wicker Park art-rock scene (which gave birth to Liz Phair), Conn hops genres the way some of his listeners ...
| | Angels Of Light New Mother CD (1999)
Rise Up! songs
$12.95 Starting with a gentle keyboard in "Fragment," which seamlessly moves into "Praise Your Name" with its piano, accordion, brushed drums, and folk/pop backing singers, Michael Gira continues with his intentional break from Swans. Anything but a softening of his art -- sample lyrics from "Praise" include "Kill idiot violence, punish greed, punish me" -- New Mother instead lets Gira experiment even further, concentrating on acoustic guitar songs accompanied by a variety of musicians. ...

Rise Up! songs
$13.25 A piano duet recording, these two Europeans adopt a jazz stance in the romantic tradition with witty improvisations, occasional injections of raw passion, and a palpable empathy considering they had never played together before. It's a direct approach that is hardly simple or basic but should appeal to listeners of modern piano à la Bill Evans, ECM fans, and creative improvised music mavens. Each pianist does their solo take of "I Can't Get Started"; Van Den Brink uses widely spaced melody notes in a barely recognizable interpretation, while Pieranunzi is more pensive and clearly states the line and improvises more off of it. They do standards as the rambling, off-the-cuff intro, head, and bridge of "You & the Night & the Music," and a Duke Ellington medley comprising a sunrise serenade, a substantially improvised "In a Sentimental Mood," the two-beat driven "Caravan," the lightly stridden "Prelude to a Kiss," and the tango fired energy of the excited "It Don't Mean ...

$16.45 Dino Romanelli is a solo artist from Broomfield, CO. "Standing Still" is his debut album, available in full here on CDBaby in CD or digital form.Dino grew up in Denver, CO and began playing in bands at 15. He began his musical journey on the cello at age 8, and moved from various woodwind and brass instruments before discovering rock & roll and guitar. Prior to this recording, Dino was the singer for several LA based bands, including Troy, 13th Floor, Zero Stone and The Affordables. He is now the lead singer for the Denver based band uglidog. The music that Dino writes and sings can best be described as an acoustic/electric/ folk/rock/melodic experience with a lot of two and three part harmonies. His major musical influences include, but are not limited to, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, The Black Crowes, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Byrds, and The Eagles. The album includes elements of several sounds and styles, making it something that people with many different musical tastes can enjoy. "Standing Still" is an album on which you will find driving rock on "Thinking About You", the gentle acoustic ballad "Thanks For Coming", the melodic harmonies of "American Beauty", and the dynamic power of "Big Black Hole". There are also five other fine songs, including the mystical title track.Dino Romanelli is available for live shows at this time.
