| | Shapeshifter Opiate Sea CD Shapeshifter Discography of CDs
Shapeshifter is a pop-rock powerhouse. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Shapeshifter is like a threatening tornado whose changing shape howls and whips the ground with tyrannous authority. Indeed, this group is a force to be reckoned with but not to fear. >From 1997-2002, they toured the country, scored the radio hit, "My Enemy" and produced an award winning video. They entered the Album Networks' Best Sellers category for CD sales in the Northwest, and garnered amazing press reviews where ever they went. Shapeshifter graced the front page of Napster and at one point "My Enemy" was the # 1 most downloaded song. The band released 4 albums on Pinch Hit Records in L. A., as well as being on compilation CD's with such notables as Cyress Hill, Elliot Smith and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. Shapeshifter joined forces with Conscious Records in 2001. At that time, the Album Network raved about Shapeshifter's ..."thought-provoking lyrics, strong melodies and instantly appealing hooks" and said that their single, "My Enemy" "radiates a musical optimism that's truly convincing and compelling"...and is..."undeniably uplifting". LA Weekly referred to Shapeshifter as a "radio-friendly" band. Pop Matters expounded on Shapeshifter's "captivating harmonies, brilliant drumming and inspired guitar passages". Ohio Tribune said "the insightful and positive nature of Shapeshifter's lyrics can most easily be compared to Live". With a steadily building fan base, sold out tours, national radio airplay, television exposure, hot CD sales, and heaps of great press, Shapeshifter was approached a number of times by major labels; the right deal, however, did not materialize. Always ones to put their creative energy above mere success, Shapeshifter eventually decided to pursue solo projects. After years of touring and recording, the individual members were ready for something new. So Shapeshifter may not be on the road or in the studio these days but their music lives on right here; so check it out and enjoy!

$11.18 Last time around, Shakira touched upon so many styles she couldn't be contained on one album, splitting Oral Fixation in two. This time, she focuses on one sound only: a pulsating electro-disco that crosses all boundaries and welcomes all nationalities. Such concentration behooves Shakira, freeing her to release her inner She Wolf, a wild wacko who's as coo coo as she is carnal. And for as sexy as Shakira is -- crucially, her music is sexy too -- what really gives She Wolf its bite is her inspired ...

Opiate Sea songs
$12.65 When Valerie DeLaCruz was growing up, her family and friends were certain she would become an artist. Her obvious ability in the visual arts made it seem clear that would be her calling. Well, Valerie has in fact become an artist--a musical artist. "I love drawing," says Valerie. "It's as natural as breathing to me. But so is singing, and nothing gives me the feeling of joy I get when I'm singing."Valerie was performing her own music as early as age 15, when she opened for Johnny Rivers. As a teenager she played guitar and sang in several acoustic harmony acts, and worked as a solo performer as well. Valerie then put her guitar away for a while and fronted a series of bands. One of the first groups she sang in fired her for "lack of stage presence." But by the time she played a cocktail party prior to a Liza Minnelli show years later, Valerie had learned her lesson well. "It's not enough simply to have a good voice, or to have your material down cold," she explains. "You've got to have something you can communicate in the music. You have to connect with every member of your audience, one by one."Living in Boston after attending the Art Institute of Boston, Valerie toured the New England ...
