$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").

Politically 'the democrats are out of power' was causing people to worry about the US in the same way as they do today, not least the great BBC radio 1 who banned it from play. It was funky but not tainted by disco and it was most definitely cool without really trying.(We don't need this) Fascist Groove Thang was the first single released by Heaven 17, perhaps the huge impact the song made on those who danced to it is not so surprising when one considers that two of the three band members, Ian Craig Marsh ...
