'Little Cowpoke' is the amazing first album by the Grammy winning group Nickel Creek. Sara Watkins was 11, Sean Watkins was 15 and Chris Thile was also just 11 when they completed the tracks on this CD. They were 'discovered' playing at the Gene Autry Museum in Los Angeles in the late summer of 1992. They were performing like professionals, but they still had a child-like, unspoiled joy for what they were doing. I felt I had to capture this, since soon they would be grown, and there would be no memory of how they were as children. The result of this collaboration is 'Little Cowpoke', a collection of cowboy songs from real cowboys to movie cowboys. Sara Watkins sings up a storm on "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart", the whole band plays blistering bluegrass on "Deep in the Heart of Texas", with Sean Watkins on mandolin, and Chris Thile foreshadows his cross-over mandolin playing on his solo for "I'm an Old Cowhand". At this stage in its career, Nickel Creek included Chris' dad, Scott Thile, on bass and occasional vocals (Pecos Bill). There is even an example of harmony yodeling! (Sara was a champion yodeler in her younger days). Chidren love this CD because they get to hear other children sing and play, and this is exceptional, fresh and virtuostic performing. An inspiration to the young and the not-as-young! Nickel Creek Little Cowpoke Songs | 1. | Ride Cowboy Ride |

| | Alan Root We're Not In Kansas Anymore CD (2006)
Little Cowpoke album
$17.75 Alan Root is a kid musicianary. He rocks with older kids. He says you'll like him if you're sick of Barney and scared of Britney. His ministry sticks like duct tape to young brains. He was called to ministry by a seemingly harmless comment made to him by Michael W. Smith. His music is a cross between James Taylor and Smash Mouth. He's been an artist for Word and Starsong. He's done music for Kelloggs, McDonalds, Oscar Meyer, Sesame Place, Dr. Seuss and Dr. Billy Graham. Recorded 8 CDs. 2001, 2003, 2004 Tele award winner. Taught college-level Geology. Honesty. Humor. Substance. Ministry. Joy. He's different. But not weird. You'll like him.RALPH MEAKER “There aren’t many people who can do the music and bring the word to older kids like you can. Your gifts are unique.” JULIE KURZ “Each days talks were direct, foundational, understandable - probably the best talks I’ve heard for children. We had 30 decisions!” KATHY PUGH “You are, indeed, the ‘real thing.’ I haven’t seen that many kids respond to the gospel. This is the BEST I have ever seen.” JIM DRAKE “42 people made a decision for a new life. WOW!!” KAREN LUTTRELL “My kids came home excited, and my son is not excitable.” DENISE SHELTON “My daughter says you’ve replaced the Backstreet Boys.” MANDI CARR “I was able to see you with the older kids. You were great. They were having a blast. You have a great gift.” MICHAEL MILOSER “We don't know how we’ll top this year’s VBS.” RUTH PAPE “I played your new video for my 4th and 5th graders and from the moment I pressed play, I had their attention.” MARY CLAIRE WESOLOSKY “I am 8 years old. I love your music. Your songs inspire me to love the Lord even more than ever.” PAM REA “Thanks for clearly teaching our kids about Jesus. They are having so much fun and 15 out of 17 of my class have made serious commitments to Jesus.” BENJAMIN MANLEY “I was laughing so hard I could hardly take notes! You explained complex concepts so that even the youngest can understand.” STEVE DAVIS “Your ministry is so right-on theologically and musically.” GWEN COOPER “A parent told me, “As far as I’m concerned, you can book Alan every year. Anyone who can hold my 5 year old’s attention for an hour and a half...”” MARGARET PITTMAN “Universally given a "10,” “A+,” "four stars," by EVERYONE who met you. You’ve left quite a mark on our congregation.” Ashlee Graham “I went 2 the Fun In The Son camp @ Ridgecrest. I really enjoyed it. I loved your message, I have wondered before about creation and it just made it so clear that there is just no way that evolution could b true. The chicken soup song also broke it down 2 make it easy 2 understand.” Dan Classen “My daughter Leah fell in love with FORTUNATE RECIPIENT, has memorized ...

Corey Leland was standing in line at a “.99 Cent” Store one day when he noticed the tension between a mother and her 5-year old son. Intrigued, as he often is by such moments, the California-based singer-songwriter approached the woman.Corey said, “Excuse me, I’m writing songs for kids about your boy’s age,” he recalls. “What would you want kids to hear in a song? More especially, what would you want to hear so that you wouldn’t have to get upset with your child? A song that would resolve the issue in theory before it even ...
