| | Rob Volpintesta America The Beautiful Soundtrack CD
This is the first Rock Opera composed by Rob Volpintesta. Set in the tumultuous 1960's, this story of the demise of Marilyn Monroe includes characters based on President Kennedy, Joe Dimaggio, Frank Sinatra, and other less celebrated but powerful personalities that brought the diva down. This recording features a complete cast of singers (Rob Volpintesta sings Dimaggio, Rob Jackson sings Sinatra, Angela Parrish sings Monroe, Anthony Mills sings JFK). Also featured are Trina Hamlin, Glen Romeo, and a full chorus. The band perfoming eventually became Soundscape, which went on to record the "Discovery" album, also available through Angel Thorne Music. This is a double disc set and is a complete theatrical performance, including sung dialogue. $12.19 Epitaph roll out the melodies on this excellent disc with "East of the Moon," styled after Roxy Music's opening track/anthem to their 1979 epic Manifesto -- and it's just as effective. It's quickly followed by a stylistic change, folk guitar, keyboards and heavy vocals which make "Evermore" a solid hard pop outing in the vein of the Sutherland Brothers & Quiver. The dark greys of the CD artwork and slick ...

| | Jesse Lewis Atticus CD (2008)
America The Beautiful Soundtrack album
$16.19 In his highly anticipated sophomore recording, guitarist/composer Jesse Lewis explores new sonic possibilities and blends different genres effortlessly. Lewis is an active contributor to NYC’s creative music scene and has been an established member of the jazz community for many years. He has worked with jazz luminaries such as Ellis Marsalis, Nicholas Payton, Chris Potter, and Mark Turner. His new album, Atticus, is the culmination of his collective experiences, both musically and personally. Lewis is featured throughout the recording on a variety of instruments including several electric guitars, acoustic guitar, nylon string guitar and even baritone ukulele. On Atticus, the sounds of the artificial and the acoustic meld seamlessly and compliment each other in refreshing ways. The music grows and evolves organically, taking time to unfold and develop thematic material throughout. The compositions, while notably influenced by jazz, call equally upon myriad other influences. Like many of his generation, Lewis was a true “child of the 80’s,” and was influenced ...
