Lee's Novelty Singing Orchestra is heard on six numbers (including "Down Home Syncopated Blues," "If I Could Be With You," and "St. James Infirmary"), Lee's sister, vocalist Julia Lee, is showcased on "He's Tall, Dark and Handsome" and "Won't You Come Over to My House," and the only two numbers by Walter Page's Blue Devils (with Jimmy Rushing making his recording debut on "Blue Devil Blues") are also here. In addition, there is the debut of Jimmie Lunceford's Orchestra (the 1927 Chickasaw Syncopators) and numbers by Bill Brown's Brownies, Maynard Baird's Southern Serenaders (including "Postage Stomp!"), Hunter's Serenaders ...
