O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack album was released Dec 05, 2000 on the Mercury label. Those kings of cinematic quirkiness, the Coen brothers, fashioned their film O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? as a contemporary adaption of Homer's Odyssey, centering around a group of American chain-gang prisoners. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack songs The film's earthy Southern setting makes it a natural for a bluegrass-oriented soundtrack, for which producer T-Bone Burnett picked the cream of the country crop. "Didn't Leave Nobody But the Baby," for example, is a summit meeting of some of the finest contemporary female country vocalists (Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, and Alison Krauss). The old school isn't forgotten either, as evidenced by a chilling a cappella rendering of "O Death," courtesy of Ralph Stanley, and by the closing cut, where the Stanley Brothers issue an elegant plea to heaven with "Angel Band." The Music of Home
The music of O Brother Where Art Thou? raw, simple, and just as it should be. It is the music of people - ordinary people, not glossy, manufactured media stars. It is the music that gets people through hard times, and brings them together in good times. Fun, because you can sing along, and wistful, because it feels like it's from an era gone by. Pam

Great Movie/Great Music
I enjoy this type of music and am very pleased with my purchase of this CD which just arrived yesterday after an extremely long delay. It was worth the delay though and I am listening to the music as we speak. This type of music somehow soothes me and lets my mind wander to a time when the musicians were sitting around and putting this music together. It is a definate good CD and worth the money.

Wake the Dead
My fellow employes are normally deadbeats who came alive with this soundtrack playing. It made a long boring night much more pleasurable. The world needs a lot more of this type music. It is toe tapping, can't sit still, non forgettable.

Glorious Old-Time Music
If you enjoy "real" country music, this soundtrack is for you. Even if you didn't see the movie, you'll find much to like here. This is toe-tapping, sing-along music. I recommed it highly.
