| | Vader Ultimate Incantation CD Vader Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Vader's debut album already established the band as having one of death metal's highest levels of technical skill, a level which would only improve over the '90s; The Ultimate Incantation is marred only by a low-tech production that tends to mute some of the band's thrashy ferocity. ~ Steve Huey

| | Exodus Bonded By Blood CD (1985)
Ultimate Incantation CD music
$7.85 Had it been released immediately after it was recorded in 1984, Exodus' Bonded by Blood might be regarded today alongside Metallica's Kill 'em All as one of the landmark albums responsible for launching the thrash metal wave. But by the time it finally hit the streets more than a year later due to numerous record company-related difficulties, the genre the band helped spawn had evolved at an alarming rate (again, largely thanks to the unstoppable Metallica) and Exodus were left to wonder what kind of impact they may have had without these setbacks. Opening with the mind-blowing power of title track, the band immediately pummels through a number of astounding thrashers, including "And Then There Were None" and, perhaps their best well-known ...

| | White Willow Sacrament CD (2000)
Ultimate Incantation album
$14.29 Two years after his critically acclaimed second album Ex Tenebris, White Willow's leader Jacob Holm-Lupo came back with a new CD and, for the third time, a new band. With keyboardist Jan Tariq Rahman's departure Holm-Lupo remains the only original member of the band. Only singer Sylvia Erichsen is salvaged from the staff found on Ex Tenebris. The instrumentation remains almost the same, only the names change: Brynjar Dambo on keyboards, Aage Moltke Schou on drums, Johannes Sćeboe on bass, and Ketil Vestrum Einarsen on flutes. Now that there is a full-time flutist in the band, the instrument is used more extensively and to better effect. It would have been hard to follow up on Ex Tenebris with an album in the same vein and, as expected, White Willow reverted to a more standard progressive rock sound, somewhere between its first and second albums. The mystical quality, bareness beauty and vibrant sensuality ...

| | Enchant Live At Last CDs (2004)
Ultimate Incantation music CDs
$15.85 If you just can't get enough of that progressive rock, then the eighth release by the Bay Area's Enchant is just the album for you. Containing two discs and a good two and a half hours of music, Live at Last documents, in its entirety, a March 2004 hometown concert at Imusicast in Oakland, CA. Like most prog rock bands, Enchant has been able to build a much stronger following in Europe than in the U.S., so its stateside concerts are relatively rare and the fans at this one sound like they had been waiting for a good long time. Enchant's energy is impressive and infectious, and their instrumental sound is suitably huge, with special kudos going to the resourceful and intelligent guitarist Doug Ott. Singer Ted Leonard has a fine voice and delivers lots of those big, ...
| | Flatt & Scruggs Foggy Mountain Gospel: The Complete Columbia Gospel Recordings CDs (2005) Remastered
Ultimate Incantation songs
$16.09 Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs merged bluegrass and gospel music throughout the 1950s and '60s on an impressive series of recordings for Columbia. Those backwoodsy, spiritual songs are represented on this outstanding two-disc, 52-track collection.
With Flatt on lead vocals and guitar and Scruggs on baritone vocals and banjo or guitar, the duo applied their potent bluegrass sound to songs of faith written by Flatt, A.P. Carter, and others. As always, Flatt's deft guitar work blends seamlessly with Scruggs's fleet banjo lines, while the pair's harmonizing voices convey tales of saints, sinners, and searching souls. Classics here include Flatt's fast-paced "Get in Line Brother" and cautionary "Be Ready for Tomorrow May Never Come, " Carter's twangy "I'm on My Way to Canaan's ...
