| | David Roth If You Can't Fly CD David Roth Discography of CDs
Landslide top vote-getter at the Falcon Ridge (NY) Folk Festival’s “Most-Wanted” competition and NAIRD “Indie” nominee (singer-songwriter album of the year for “Digging Through My Closet”) DAVID ROTH strikes many chords, hearts, and minds with his unique songs, offbeat observations, moving stories, and powerful singing and subject matter. Since emerging from another nationwide field of several hundred songwriters to open the Kerrville (TX) Folk Festival as it’s New Folk Winner, the Chicago native (and two-time national anthem singer for the NBA’s Michael Jordan-era Bulls) has garnered accolades for his performances, workshops, writing, and recordings. Featured on many of Christine Lavin’s Rounder compilations, the former artist-in-residence at New York’s Omega Institute has also been a songwriting judge at Kerrville, Napa Valley (CA), Tumbleweed (WA), Eventide Arts (MA), and the South Florida Folk Festival. In addition to singing “Earth” at the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations, David’s “Rising in Love” was performed at the 100th Anniversary of Carnegie Hall in 1991, and “Manuel Garcia” and “Nine Gold Medals” both appear in the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul series by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary) has performed David’s “Spacesuits” on PPM tours and produced “If You Can’t Fly” (written by David and Chuck Pyle) for his 2002 children’s album “World Around Song”. The BOSE Corporation includes “Taller Than My Hair” and “Five Blind Men” on their “best of new folk” compilations. David’s recorded 7 CDs on the Wind River label (with an 8th and 9th in Germany on Stockfisch Records) and has been living on Cape Cod since 2000 after 8 years in Seattle. www.davidrothmusic.com“David is a true master of his trade, and a stunning example of folk music at its best.”Beth MurrayIvy Chord Coffeehouse, Reading, MA"I love your albums...though there are some times I can't find two and two, much less put them together, I'm trying to do both here by congratulating you on some fine writing..."Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul & Mary)“...one of the best songs I’ve heard in the last 20 years”Tom Paxton on David’s “Nine Gold Medals”"I don't think we've ever had a more enthusiastic audience."Ben Cohen Hogeye Folk Arts, Evanston, IL"We're pretty new to the whole "folk" phenomenon, and we sometimes don't feel comfortable with acoustic guitars and nothing else...but David takes the "nice guy singing and strumming" concept and turns it upside down: he's AMAZING."Groovelily www.groovelily.com"David...what an astoundingly gorgeous show. Thank you so much for a night of laughter and tears. Wonderful! Back next year? We'll keep the stage warm."Margie Rosen-Kranz, Eighth StepAlbany, NY"Think of David as a Vance Gilbert who gets to the barber shop more often. Like Vance, David will have us laughing most of the day. He'll also sing a batch of great songs that'll have us reflecting on some more serious aspects of our lives....Tim/Lori Blixt Cabin Concerts, Wayne, NJ "I'd heard he was good. I didn't know he was THAT good..." Phil Shapiro, "Bound for Glory" Ithaca, NY"Very special, and worth a trip from anywhere..."Brandi Hayden, Good Folks Coffeehouse, CT"Over the years I've presented many great singer-songwriters...Cheryl Wheeler, Cliff Eberhardt, Darden Smith, Patty Larkin, Vance Gilbert, Eric Anderson, Ellis Paul, David Massengill, to name a few. | | Black Bonzo Sound Of The Apocalypse CD (2007)
If You Can't Fly
$13.45 As a forward thinking progressive rock label, The Laser's Edge is constantly seeking contemporary sounding bands'well maybe not always. When we first heard the incredible retro vibes of Black Bonzo's debut album 'Lady Of The Light' we knew that someday we would collaborate. That time is now.
Black Bonzo was formed in 2003, from the ashes of the 8 piece psychedelic band Gypsy Sons Of Magic. The resulting album received acclaim through out Europe and saw the band concentrating their efforts in their native Sweden. With the release of their second album, Sound Of The Apocalypse, the band is really to increase their presence around the world.
The music of Black Bonzo is fixed on a bedrock of 70s hard rock bands such as Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, and Queen. Upon this foundation are obvious progressive influences from Camel, Gentle Giant, Genesis, and Yes. Keyboardist Nicklas Ahlund's fixation for analog sounds reminds of Ken ...
