$10.19 In the late '70s and early '80s, it wasn't uncommon to find punk bands that were enamored of '50s and early '60s rock & roll. The Clash covered the Bobby Fuller Four's "I Fought the Law," and the Ramones were well aware of the contributions of pioneers like Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley -- not to mention the girl groups, surf rockers and garage bands that emerged in the 1960s. Although Tiger Army wasn't formed until 1995, its work has recalled a time when punk bands showed their affection for early rock & roll. Released in 1999, this self-titled debut album is full of rockabilly influences -- the material is aggressive punk, but aggressive punk that owes a lot to rockabilly. And that's ironic because the Generation X-ers who comprise Tiger Army are young enough to be Jerry Lee Lewis' grandchildren. No one can accuse this band of ...

$10.35 You don't have to be a Rancid fan to acknowledge that the band lives and dies by the punk ethic of playing every note like it's going to be its last. You'll find one hundred and ten percent attitude and music that's as honest as you can get on RANCID (not to be confused with the band's self-titled 1993 release).
RANCID finds the band ...

Give 'Em The Boot Vol. 2 CD music
$15.39 The list of well-known Los Angeles-based musicians who Canadian guitarist Les Sabler employs on Sweet Drive is impressive. Keyboardist Jeff Lorber, saxophonists Eric Marienthal and Gary Meek, bassist Brian Bromberg (who produced this 2007 release), trumpeter Jerry Hey (of Seawind fame), drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, and percussionist Alex Acuña are among the participants. With such an all-star cast, Sweet Drive should have been excellent. But regrettably, this 60-minute CD is dominated by formulaic, radio-oriented smooth jazz that will probably appeal ...
