Paul Di'Anno & Killers album
$16.45 Although generally not as highly regarded by the critics as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, or the Who, the Kinks may well have influenced far more musicians. The three-chord sledgehammer proto-metal burst of teenage lust called "You Really Got Me," the Kinks' third single and first hit, touched off a garage band explosion, which in turn influenced the rise of punk a decade later. Blessed with an astute songwriter in Ray Davies, the Kinks followed the template of "You Really Got Me" for a couple years, racking up hits with "All Day and All of the Night," "Tired of Waiting for You," and "Till the End of the Day." But Davies had more than one card in his pocket, and he blossomed into a sharp social satirist ("Dedicated Follower of Fashion"). By the time the album The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation ...

$9.99 Also available in a 3-pack with DIARY OF A MADMAN and BARK AT THE MOON.
Ozzy Osbourne's 1983 release, BARK AT THE MOON, revealed that keyboards were becoming an integral ingredient in his music. On his next release, THE ULTIMATE SIN, keyboards were used even more extensively, resulting in Ozzy's most commercially accessible work. Despite the fact that many longtime fans resented the album's pop-metal leanings, THE ULTIMATE SIN became Osbourne's fastest-selling album to that ...

| | Apocalyptica Amplified: A Decade Of Reinventing The Cello CDs (2006)
Paul Di'Anno & Killers album
$15.19 Two disc 2006 collection featuring the best moments from this classically based Finnish quartet's first decade, including a handful of tracks from their internationally successful Plays Metallica For Four Cellos. 23 tracks. Universal.
When Finland's Apocalyptica released 1996's self-explanatory Plays Metallica by Four Cellos instrumental album, their convincing classical interpretations of those ubiquitous heavy metal anthems were widely praised for their virtuosic execution and ingenious concept, but similarly dismissed as a one-time curiosity. And cynics were almost proven right when the spread-legged and seated quartet's sophomore outing, Inquisition Symphony (1998), proceeded to repeat the same gimmick, only adding a few instrumental originals and new bands covered (Sepultura, Faith No More, Pantera) amid the expected Metallica tunes, for a significantly less acclaimed and low-selling product. Here's where things got interesting, because the members of Apocalyptica actually realized they were living on borrowed time, accepted the daunting challenge to evolve or perish, and went on to compose ...
| | Michael This Is Love CD (2004)
Paul Di'Anno & Killers CD music
$16.39 Michael's story is one of determination and strength. On the "This is Love" album, people young and old will hear and understand the life of an Alabamian who has been in the game for a long time, through trials and tribulations, but kept the faith and followed his dream. As a young boy, 6 years old, I began living with my grandmother along with my two sisters in Selma, Alabama while our mother lived in Chicago. Not completely understanding why I couldn't live with my mother, time passed on and I was as close as ever to my grandmother. When I was 11 years old, my sisters turned me onto Smokey Robinson. They would sing Smokey's songs, like, "Ooo- Baby, Baby" and "Baby, Baby don't cry" and get me to sing along with them. Smokey became my idol. I tried to sing like him, just as I did the Dramatics, Stylistics, Blue Magic and the Moments. They influenced my ears for a long time until I developed my own style. At the age of 13, my grandmother passed. I felt like my whole world had fallen apart, she meant everything to me. I really felt lost, but I knew I had to be strong. A year later my mother passed. I had no direction, and didn't know which way to go. I just wanted to give up. I thought I could be strong, but I felt I had nothing left. I lost my passion for singing, but my father, Richard Perry and my sisters wouldn't let me give up, they kept pushing and pushing until I found myself even better than I was before. And because they were older, they felt they could push me around anyway, and that took me into manhood. Michael, then "Doc" as a local paper put it, "Policeman by day, Singer by night" took to the stage as the lead singer and choreographer of the group Black Fortune. As time moved on, Michael changed the group's name to "True Image." Michael explains: True Image meant the true personalities of the group. We recorded our first single "Come What May" and took the small town Selma, to new heights. The hit song, was co-written and arranged by Michael and a long time friend and producer, James Terry. Today, 15 years later, Michael, a police captain, husband, father, writer and producer, is pursuing a solo career and his first solo project, "This is Love." According to Michael, "This is Love" is formed from his life, with a touch of today's music, but with the heart of tradition. I've been that "Jealous Guy" and the friend. I am that good man that told his girl, "Don't Throw a Good Love Away." ...
