Eugene Chadbourne & The Insect & Western Party includes: Eugene Chadbourne, Ashley Adams, Brian Ritchie, Ellery Eskelin, Jeff Kaiser, Gino Robair.
BEAUTY & THE BLOODSUCKER is Eugene Chadbourne's celebration of the various strains of post-bebop jazz sounds. It runs the gamut from bop to bossa nova, free improvisation to fusion. Chadbourne plays both acoustic and electric guitars, dobro and five string banjo. A total of 15 musicians join him throughout the entire work (not all at one time), including tenor saxophonist Ellery Eskelin, percussionist Gino Robair, and bass player Brian Ritchie. The 15 pieces were recorded live and in studios in New York City, Atlanta, Michigan and Berkeley, California. Chadbourne then did his customary editing, stitching it all together into a near-continuous whole, complete with overdubbed elements from other CDs and vinyl records. The musical interplay is warm and downright humorous.
Dr. Chadbourne uses today's small jazz combo to portray the beauty as well as the horrors of insect life - the music ranges from bop to western to heavy metal & features Ashley Adams, Brian Ritchie, Ellery Eskelin, Jeff Kaiser, Gino Robair & others

Beauty And The Bloodsucker album
$13.09 Diana Krall's first studio outing since she and husband Elvis Costello became the proud parents of twin boys, 2009's QUIET NIGHTS finds the jazz singer/pianist turning in a serene and pleasantly subdued set. Krall breezes through a few bossa nova standards, most notably "The Girl from Ipanema" (here gender-reversed to "The Boy...") and the title track (originally "Corcovado"), both penned by the ...

Beauty And The Bloodsucker album
$9.89 How a good-looking Jewish boy from Brooklyn discovered the secret of success in an updated form of mariachi music is perhaps beyond our scope. Then again, it might not be such a mystery after all. Aside from the obvious example of exotica, much easy listening depends upon more than a touch of ethnicity to maintain its musical roots. What Herb Alpert found in Mexican street bands was a previously untapped source of south-of-the-border melody and rhythm. With its unlikely combination of Alpert's cool Chet Baker-like trumpet and the blocky cadences of ...

Beauty And The Bloodsucker songs
$9.89 Fonovisa Records has never been known for putting out a lot of hip-hop. Their primary focus has been regional Mexican music, which is a healthy niche to have because banda, Norteño, Tejano, and grupero are huge in Mexico and the southwestern United States. Nonetheless, Fonovisa has dabbled in Spanish-language rap on occasion, and Puro Escandalo is a perfect example. Fonovisa obviously wasn't trying to market this 2004 release to English-only audiences; about 90 percent of the lyrics are in Spanish, which isn't necessarily the commercial kiss of death that some non-Spanish-speaking hip-hoppers might think it is -- from Barcelona to Mexico City to Buenos Aires, plenty of MCs have earned their living by rapping exclusively in Spanish. The two Salvadoran brothers who comprise L.A.'s Crooked Stilo bring a lot of West ...

Beauty And The Bloodsucker album
$9.35 * DON'T PASS US BY, WE'RE NOT WRITING LULLABY'S* WE'RE THE BRYAN MICHENER BAND! The Bryan Michener Band is proud to announce the release of their debut full length album, Current Emergency. Formed in Taunton Ma. in June 2005, it was originally started as a solo project for front man and principal writer Bryan Michener . A former drummer for the local Taunton band The Bind, he left in early 2005 to pursue the piano full time and start his side project. The mission is to prove that music with a piano doesn't have to put you to sleep. It can still accomplish a wide range feelings and emotions without losing it's back bone and rock integrity, something this band is intent is on proving. We're not trying to fool anybody but the right people with the right attitude can make good music that's catchy and eclectic. Bryan began rehearsing with drummer George Medeirios , who also plays in the cover band Dead Mans Hand and his long time friend and The Bind bassist Lucas Hunton. They then began recording Current Emergency in September 2005 at ...
