These 34 selections run the usual Eugene Chadbourne gamut of country nuggets, songs of love and protest, neglected folk and pop, free improvisation, and stray bits of dialogue. It's all cut and pasted together with his customary intuitive gusto. Some of the material finds him joined by drummer Paul Lovens (from the Schlippenbach Trio) and was recorded in Europe, while the remaining solo performances were recorded in New York City and Greensboro, North Carolina.
The duo work is especially warm and engaging, played with the verve of improvisers who know no limits. Chadbourne breaks into his song "Improvements" after five minutes of banjo and drum interplay, and, happily, Lovens treats the change as if it never happened, playing off of the song moment by moment. One of the album's highpoints is "The Sky Got Flatter," a melancholy song of heartbreak and travel that also serves as a potent display of Chadbourne's ability to deliver a pure and impassioned vocal.
2-CD set is a collection of original songs & cover versions as only the Doctor can do it, played solo & with the duo Me & Paul; also features drummer Paul Lovens Young At Heart/Forgiven Music Young At Heart/Forgiven Review

Young At Heart/Forgiven music CDs
$12.89 Landslide top vote-getter at the Falcon Ridge (NY) Folk Festival’s “Most-Wanted” competition and NAIRD “Indie” nominee (singer-songwriter album of the year for “Digging Through My Closet”) DAVID ROTH strikes many chords, hearts, and minds with his unique songs, offbeat observations, moving stories, and powerful singing and subject matter. Since emerging from another nationwide field of several hundred songwriters to open the Kerrville (TX) Folk Festival as it’s New Folk Winner, the Chicago native (and two-time national anthem singer for the NBA’s Michael Jordan-era Bulls) has garnered accolades for his performances, workshops, writing, and recordings. Featured on many of Christine Lavin’s Rounder compilations, the former artist-in-residence at New York’s Omega Institute has also been a songwriting judge at Kerrville, Napa Valley (CA), Tumbleweed (WA), Eventide Arts (MA), and the South Florida Folk Festival. In addition to singing “Earth” at the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations, David’s “Rising in Love” was performed at the 100th Anniversary of Carnegie Hall in 1991, and “Manuel Garcia” and “Nine Gold Medals” both appear in the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul series by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary) has performed David’s “Spacesuits” on PPM tours and produced “If You Can’t Fly” (written by David and Chuck Pyle) for his 2002 children’s album “World Around Song”. The BOSE Corporation includes “Taller Than My Hair” and “Five Blind Men” on their “best of new folk” compilations. David’s recorded 7 CDs on the Wind River label (with an 8th and 9th in Germany on Stockfisch Records) and has been living on Cape Cod since 2000 after 8 years in Seattle. www.davidrothmusic.com“David is a true master of his trade, and a stunning example of folk music at its best.”Beth MurrayIvy Chord Coffeehouse, Reading, MA"I love your albums...though there are some times I can't find two and two, much less put them together, I'm trying to do both here by congratulating you on some fine writing..."Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul & Mary)“...one of the best songs I’ve heard in the last 20 years”Tom Paxton on David’s “Nine Gold Medals”"I don't think we've ever had a more enthusiastic audience."Ben Cohen Hogeye Folk Arts, Evanston, IL"We're pretty new to the whole "folk" phenomenon, and we sometimes don't feel comfortable with acoustic guitars and nothing else...but David takes the "nice guy singing and strumming" concept and turns it upside down: he's AMAZING."Groovelily www.groovelily.com"David...what ...
| | Dean Martin Everybody Loves Somebody CD (1964) (Import) Box Set; Netherlands
Young At Heart/Forgiven songs
$22.35 For more than four years, from 1949 to 1953, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis hosted a weekly half-hour network radio variety series called The Martin and Lewis Show, and on each episode Martin would get to sing. This compilation, despite its unfortunately deceptive title (although there is a rendition of "Everybody Loves Somebody," of course it isn't the 1964 studio recording that was a number one hit), collects some of those performances. Although it isn't acknowledged on the cover, the selection also mixes in eight early studio recordings by Martin made prior ...
| | George Lewis Solo Trombone Album CD (1976)
Young At Heart/Forgiven album
$14.35 At the time of this, his first solo recording, George Lewis was all of 24 years old, having already served in bands led by artists ranging from Count Basie to, most famously, Anthony Braxton. Yet not only can one hear his obvious technical mastery of the instrument but, more crucially, both his respect for the tradition as well as his determined sense of exploration and experimentation. The latter is shown to huge effect on the opening composition, "Toneburst: Three Trombones Simultaneously." Not simply ...
