| | Danny Howells Global Underground: Nubreed CD Danny Howells Discography of CDs
This is a continuos in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Danny Howells.
Danny Howells has been known for smuggling funky goods into the staunchly monochromatic coalition of progressive dance, sometimes within ten-hour sets, but his two-CD NuBreed mix is milder than his usual work. It's rough tech-house without the floor-packing energy, using DJ Dan, Echomen, 16B, Meat Beat Manifesto, and his own Science Dept for 120 BPM-styled mood warpage. The result is narrowly danceable; something best played at low volumes when you notice the days are getting colder and shorter. A bit too indistinct to make many return visits. ~ Dean Carlson
Danny Howells is undoubtedly one of the UK's brightest stars. His refreshingly original style of sexy, deep & funky futuristic Tech/Tribal/Progressive House, combined with his silky smooth mixing abilities, has taken off all over the world. his talents have also afforded him the opportunity to accept residencies at some of the UK's best clubs.

This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by Deep Dish.
So for their 25th release, Global Underground recruited the dynamic duo once again to contribute to the long-running series. Two years prior, Deep Dish released one of the highlights of the entire Global Underground catalog with its Moscow mix, and now the duo has returned to pay homage to Toronto. And while they don't necessarily mix in any music from local producers, they've managed to capture the spirit of the city's house scene perfectly, complete with the atmosphere from the city's largest club (Guvermnent). The first disc kicks things off with an excursion into deeper territories of house music. Not exactly Naked Music-styled ...

| | Snoop Dogg Welcome To Tha Chuuch: Da Album CD (2005)
Global Underground: Nubreed album
$14.75 Koch Records took the opportunity to break some tracks from Snoop Dogg's WELCOME TO THE CHURCH mixtape series, which had been making the rounds in the West Coast underground for some time before this 2005 album's release. Members of Snoop's Doggystyle crew are featured across the collection's 13 cuts, with new voices like Tiffany Foxx, James, and Lady of Rage appearing alongside Daz, Nate Dogg, and the main Dogg himself.
Though WELCOME TO THE CHURCH lacks the edge of much of Snoop's best material, there is an appealing, blissed-out feel to the mix. The laid-back R&B flavor and the ubiquitous hip-hop party themes (namely, getting stoned and sexed-up) contribute to the vibe as well. This is a good bet for die-hard Snoop devotees (he makes several cameos throughout) and a testament to the longevity of the g-funk sound.
A collection of tracks from Snoop's Welcome to tha Chuuch mixtape series, Koch's Welcome to tha Chuuch: Da Album gives these tracks their first aboveground exposure. There's a bunch of worthy newcomers, plus veterans of ...

| | Jah Cure True Reflections: A New Beginning CD (2007)
Global Underground: Nubreed music CDs
$12.69 The title of his fifth album is likely a veiled reference to the fact that Jah Cure emerged from a prison sentence only days before it was released. However, the songs are not filled with the kind of bitter resentment that one might expect from a young man imprisoned for a rape he swears he didn't commit; nor does it descend into the kind of harsh, anti-Babylonian imprecation that usually typifies Bobo Dread-inspired reggae. Jah Cure has recently come over to a more mainstream brand of Rastafarianism, and it's reflected in the gentler tone of his songs -- titles like "Love Is" and "Most High Cup Full" are indicative of his current mood, as is the prevalence of love songs on this program. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to be completely back at full strength yet: his rather whiny delivery undermines the smooth and romantic groove of "To Your Arms of Love," and "Love You" ...
