| | Scott Harlan More Than Meets The Ear CD Scott Harlan Discography of CDs
Scott Harlan is a bassist and singer/songwriter who has earned a reputation for having impressive technical abilities over a diverse range of music. In his 17+ years as a professional musician, Scott has performed in such venues as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, the South-by-Southwest Music Conference, the International Folk Alliance Conference, and many more. He has released 3 CDs on the independent N.A.M.E. Brand Records label, and has received glowing reviews in publications like Jazz Times Magazine, Bass Frontiers Magazine, and more. With influences like Cassandra Wilson, Peter Gabriel, Victor Wooten, Thelonious Monk, and Edwin McCain, Scott\'s music has very much evolved over the years. Where his earlier jazz-funk-fusion albums were more instrumental in nature, his current work is much more vocal and mainstream. It\'s a soulful blend of world, folk, rock, and jazz influences, all culminating into a radio-friendly adult-contemporary mix. Scott\'s unique songwriting is often highlighted by the many different instruments he plays, including electric and upright basses, piano, percussion, guitar and more. He has also scored music for a number of commercials, clients, and independent films.

More Than Meets The Ear music CDs
$14.99 UBERJAM was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
With the ascendancy of acid jazz and jam bands in the early '90s, funky jazz guitarist John Scofield suddenly found himself curiously in vogue for his blend of fusion and funk. The band Scofield presents on UBERJAM is the one that's accompanied him at many a jam-friendly festival, and even the guest artists (saxman Karl Denson, keyboardist John Medeski) hail from that scene. These facts, along with the album's title, seem to suggest Scofield fully embracing his jam-god role, and why not? Improvisation is what jazz is all about anyway.
As one would expect, nearly every tune here is driven by a hard-grooving funk rhythm courtesy of Jesse Murphy's kinetic bass and Adam Deitch's deep-pocket drums. Of ...

More Than Meets The Ear songs
$14.29 Although he's primarily known as a heavy metal shredder, guitarist Greg Howe can pretty much adapt to any style thrown his way -- including jazz fusion. And this is precisely the style that is featured throughout 2003's Extraction, which saw Howe joined by such top-notch instrumentalists as Victor Wooten on bass and Dennis Chambers on drums (as well as David Cook on keys). Longtime fans of Howe who are hoping for at least a glimpse of his hard ...

$16.29 Silva Screen Records missed the usual Valentine's Day release target for this sort of album by a couple of months, but maybe the label was aiming for Prom Night instead. Or perhaps it doesn't matter when you put out an album of romantic music, since love can spring up at any time. Silva Screen specializes in re-creations of film music generally performed, as 29 out of 30 tracks here are, by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (the exception being Tony Lee's solo piano version of Erroll Garner's 1954 jazz standard "Misty," included on ...
