| | Jeremy Wallace My Lucky Day CD Jeremy Wallace Discography of CDs
New Jersey-based singer-songwriter Wallace is from the old school of folk-blues. Tutored and influenced by the legendary Dave Van Ronk, Wallace displays an impressive finger-picking style that, like Van Ronk's, contains strong elements of ragtime. Though Wallace proves he can mix it up with the best of the traditionalists on blues standards like "Saint James Infirmary" and "Statesboro Blues," his wry wit, gritty, earthy voice and nimble acoustic guitar work are all in evidence on his own compositions. A strong dose of self-deprecating humor is in evidence throughout, making MY LUCKY DAY a soulful but often light-hearted affair.
Recorded from February-April 1997.

My Lucky Day CD music
$12.85 Catdaddy Jones, a busman's holiday for four veteran New York sidemen, Geoff Worton, M.D. Meyer, Steve Merola, and Paul Bisbano, is a straight-ahead blues-rock band in a familiar style. The promotional sheet for their debut album, Late Night in the Doghouse, says, "Think the Asbury Jukes with a grittier singer and Jeff Beck on guitar!," and among the "key selling points" is this: "Record will appeal to fans of Steve Winwood, Rod Stewart, Memphis soul and urban blues." But these comparisons are not quite on the mark. In fact, if one were to listen to Late Night in the Doghouse without any information about the ...

| | Jim Dickinson Jungle Jim & The Voodoo Tiger CD (2006)
My Lucky Day songs
$12.89 Memphis music fixture Jim Dickinson has seemingly been around since the birth of rock & roll, contributing to many of its most significant moments, including playing on the Rolling Stones' STICKY FINGERS album as well as with Aretha Franklin, Alex Chilton, Dr. John, and the Flaming Groovies. His 2006 album JUNGLE JIM AND THE VOODOO TIGER synthesizes this wealth of experience, with covers of country classics like "Truck Drivin' Man" and R&B gems like Johnny Taylor's "Love Bone." JUNGLE JIM has the characteristic loose, good-time, rocking feel of most of Dickinson's solo efforts, given added depth by the heartfelt "Violin Bums" and the poignant "Out of Blue."
Jungle Jim & The Voodoo Tiger is the third studio album in 34 years from pianist/vocalist/bandleader/producer/pianist/session player/raconteur/cultural iconoclast Jim Dickinson and his Memphis International debut. Actually, the album, like the two that preceded it, is credited to Jim’s artist alter ego, James Luther Dickinson. Over the course of the past 40 years, Dickinson has worked in the studio with such ...
