Maximum Pantera
$6.55 Additional Tracks
ARGUS: EXPANDED EDITION contains bonus tracks from LIVE IN MEMPHIS, a 1972 promotional EP. Wishbone Ash includes: Ted Turner, Andy Powell (gutiar); Martin Turner (bass); Steve Upton (drums, percussion). Producer: Derek Lawrence. Reissue producers: Andy McKaie, Leon Tsilis. Includes liner notes by Leon Tsilis. Digitally remastered by Erik Kvortek. If Wishbone Ash can be considered a group who dabbled in the main strains of early-'70s British rock without ever settling on one (were they a prog rock outfit like Yes, a space rock unit like Pink Floyd, a heavy metal ensemble like Led Zeppelin, or just a boogie band like Ten Years After?), the confusion compounded by their relative facelessness and the generic nature of their compositions, Argus, their ...

| | Reverend Gary Davis At Newport CD (1991)
Maximum Pantera
$10.85 This is one of the few handful of recordings to feature the Rev. Gary Davis in concert. As the name of the project suggests, the proceedings were documented at the Newport Folk Festival in July of 1965. The Reverend's solo vocal is accompanied by his own six- and twelve-string guitar(s) as well as mouth harp. The repertoire incorporates a wide range of secular blues and sacred gospel. Davis' material is derived from his own writings and notable interpretations of folk and blues standards such as "Lovin' Spoonful" and "I Won't Be Back No More." Also featured are insightful readings of some of his best-known and loved religious sides -- namely "Death Don't Have No Mercy" and "Twelve Gates to the City." It is remarkable that although the Reverend was approaching 70 -- at the time of this recording -- his driving passion and verve are of a man half his age. The frenetic "Samson & Delilah (If ...

| | Boulevard East Timeless CD (2004)
Maximum Pantera
$15.95 Originally formed by Christopher Howatt and Dana Merritt Boulevard East harkens back to a time when melodies were humable and lyrics were memorable, composed by such artists as the Gershwins, Hoagy Carmichael and Richard Rodgers, as well as celebrating outstanding contemporary songwriters from both the theatre and cabaret stages. Mr. Howatt serves as musical director, pianist and singer in the group. Joined by Ms. Merritt and soprano Beth Covell, they form the trio that performs those wonderful songs in "fabulous three-part harmony." Since their successful debut at The Triad in January 1997, the trio has performed at various prestigious venues and affairs throughout the New York Metropolitan ...
| | Immortal Blizzard Beasts CD (2000)
Maximum Pantera
$11.39 Immortal: Abbath Doom Occulta (vocals, bass); Demonaz Doom Occulta (guitar); Erik (drums). Recorded from September to November 1996. Blizzard Beasts, Immortal's third album, sounds like a rush job when compared to the rest of the band's triumphant catalog. The majesty of the group's songwriting is buried in the album's subpar production values, which render the potentially brilliant hyperspeed riffing and drum battery gutless and ineffectual. "Nebular Ravens Winter," "Suns That Sank Below," and "Frostdemonstorm" offer a few decent riffs and solid arrangements, and six-minute epic "Mountains of Might" leans toward the black-metal-by-way-of-German-thrash genius of subsequent albums -- but the rest of the record shows little progression from predecessor Battles in the North. Ultimately, Blizzard Beasts should be chalked up as a transitional album in Immortal's mighty career, being the last to feature guitarist and founding member Demonaz (he quit after a bout with tendonitis); bassist/vocalist Abbath would take over six-string and songwriting duties, ultimately leading the band out of blastbeat hell and across more broad-scoped, epic ...
| | Alter Bridge Blackbird CD (2007)
Maximum Pantera
$9.99 Alter Bridge: Myles Kennedy (vocals, guitar); Mark Tremonti (guitar, background vocals); Brian Marshall (bass guitar); Scott Phillips (drums). Following an acrimonious split with Wind-Up Records, the Atlanta-based hard-rock act Alter Bridge soldiered on with 2007's BLACKBIRD, a set of post-grunge anthems staunchly in the vein of its debut, ONE DAY REMAINS. The former members of Creed have clearly gelled with their new lead vocalist, Myles Kennedy, who often evokes Chris Cornell with his powerhouse singing, as best exemplified by the soaring single, "Rise Today." After the demise of Creed, Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips, and Brian Marshall obviously had unfinished business and hired singer/songwriter Myles Kennedy, who quickly formed a writing partnership with Tremonti, and the new band Alter Bridge brought out their debut album One Day Remains in 2004. Three years later in October 2007, the second album, Blackbird, was released and with new man Kennedy fully integrated into the lineup, Creed fans weren't disappointed although ...
