Born in Denver, Colorado from the ashes of an industrial-thrash outfit, Five Iron Frenzy blends punk, ska, and metal, while maintaining a strong sense of melody and a great use of vocal harmonies. On the surface, that might seem common enough, except that FIF is a Christian band. By not taking an excessively preachy road, FIF is crafty and subtle in the way it delivers its message. Walking more in the tradition of bands like They Might Be Giants, the members of FIF are serious about music without taking themselves too seriously.
PROOF THAT THE YOUTH ARE REVOLTING is testament to the fun-loving chaos of the live shows of FIF. The disc opens with a jab at fellow Christian rockers Stryper that segues into a stab at '80s-metal refugees Europe. The group's infectious sense of humor is a large part of its appeal. "Suckerpunch" borrows some brass stylings from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones with much success. The band's take on "It's Not Unusual" doesn't stray far from the original, but does it justice all the same with an interesting twist on the horn arrangements. Five Iron Frenzy's comical antics explain why the group's ever-growing following continues to keep the faith.

Not too shaby It wasn't too shabby at all. No Micheal W. Smith or Steven Curtis Chapman, but not all can be perfect, these guys are pretty good though if you like ska and punk. Submitted by a reviewer (Kamloops, B.C., Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

The Best Of the Four! Folks, it doesn't get any better the this. Live is the only way to hear 5IronFrenzy. With a few new songs like "A New Hope" and "It's not unusal" are great. Rease Roper's ska/punk like vocals combined with all of Kieth's BAss and Jeff's Sax and every other person make for one the best Bands in Christian Music(If not all of music). All there best songs and more were recorded live at CornerStone '99 music festival where 5Iron rocked the stage. Also as a bonus after the last song on the Cd Rease and Jeff come on say a few words and then a bouns Track of out-takes and screw-ups from the eleven show they played. They're great. Do buy this CD if you like good music. Submitted by bass4jesus99 (Wichita, Kansas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
