Solo performer: Henry Rollins (spoken vocals). Engineers include: Randy Fransz. Disc 1 was recorded live at the House Of Blues, Chicago, Illinois on February 13, 1998. Disc 2 was recorded live in Australia in the fall of 1997. Includes liner notes by Henry Rollins. Audio Mixer: Blumpy. Recording information: Australia (1997-1998); House Of Blues, Chicago, IL (1997-1998). Editors: Henry Rollins; Richard Bishop. Photographers: Alison Dyer; John Zomot. For the uninitiated, Henry Rollins may be a puzzling dichotomy at best. Perhaps best known for his aggro-punk musical rantings and bulging tattoos, Rollins contains a very opposite side within his imposing frame. On this two-disc, live album, which was recorded on opposite ends of the Earth, Rollins lets both sides loose on the ears and minds of his devoted fans and those who may want to enter his maddened world. Clever, sharp, and brutally honest, Rollins has the self-control of a dormant volcano and sets his vocal lava upon the people and places that make our lives a little more aggravating. And no one is safe! From "Bubba" Clinton to Kenneth Starr, David Hasselhoff to Michael "Bolt-head" Bolton, husbands and wives, and the cast of Friends, everybody gets a taste of Rollins' right-minded rage. Along the way, he brings his two sides together by dipping into his musical realm as well. From the opening singalong and the renaming of El Niño as "The First Four Black Sabbath Albums," to the closing lounge lizard rendition of the Rollins Band's appropriately two-faced shredder "Liar," Rollins realizes his nefarious talents and alternative icon status and uses them to a combined effect which is simultaneously duplicitous and unifying, demonstrating his command of words and emotions to open our eyes and ears more than they may want to be. Dangerously intelligent commentary. ~ Matthew Robinson Henry Rollins is something of a modern day renaissance man; author, singer, actor, publisher, record executive, performance artist and all-around cool character. Spoken word performances are just one side of Rollins' considerable talent, but the recordings of said performances are among the most endearing Rollins-related artifacts. THINK TANK is a double CD that finds Rollins plying his verbal trade in front of an appreciative audience. In two shows recorded in 1997 and 1998, Rollins attacks the demons of contemporary society with humor, intelligence and passion without ever getting precious or pretentious. It may be his years spent as a hard-working punk singer with Black Flag that gave him his proletarian edge, but he's carried it over admirably into his other endeavors. THINK TANK will make you laugh, frown, wonder, and most importantly, think.

| | Jeff Dunham - Spark Of Insanity DVD (2007) Widescreen
Think Tank
$11.35 Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham hits the stage with hilarious new pals Achmed the Dead Terrorist and Melvin the Super hero, as well as old favorites Peanut, Walter, and Jose Jalapeno, in this sidesplitting performance at Washington D.C.'s Warner Theater.
More than just a stand-up comic, Jeff Dunham is a one-man comedy troupe--a ring-leader in a circus of snark. The veteran ventriloquist may be the only one with vocal chords, but he’s often the least vocal, playing straight man to a steam trunk of personalities: Achmed the Dead Terrorist, a goofball skeleton still fighting the infidels; Peanut, an odd purple creature with a fast mouth; Jose Jalapeño, a smooth-talking pepper on a stick; Bubba J, NASCAR’s biggest fan; and Walter, a dirty old man who speaks his mind. Together with his hilarious and irreverent puppets, Dunham riffs on everything from politics to family life, and slays the audience with his quick-witted banter. SPARK OF INSANITY features ...
| | Burt Bacharach Man & His Music CD (1998) (Import) Germany
Think Tank
$10.49 Given the strength of Burt Bacharach's catalog, it would seem that assembling a compilation of his best material would be easy. Apparently it's not, if compilations like A Man & His Music are any indication. Part of the problem with A Man & His Music isn't that it contains bad songs -- it has a couple of weak moments, but all the beloved tunes are here -- it's that it contains selections from his solo A&M recordings. Bacharach may have been a great songwriter, but he wasn't much a performer and he simply doesn't do these songs as well as ...
| | Beat From Holland, Vol. 2 CD (2003)
Think Tank
$15.15 Budget priced Holland exclusive compilation featuring 18 tracks from Dutch artists such as The Outsiders, Q65, The Shoes, Ro-D-Ys, After Tea, Wally Tax, The Incrowd, Cuby + Blizzards, & many more. Universal. 2003.
Along with most of the free world, the mid- to late '60s were a fertile time for garage rock, beat music, and pyschedelia in Holland. Beat From Holland, Vol. 2 collects 18 prime cuts from this era. The disc kicks off with tracks by the two foremost practitioners of Dutch garage rock, the Outsiders and Q 65. The Outsiders track is one of their last singles, "You Remind Me," and the catchy melody and exciting performance are sure to remind you why the band is so great. The Q 65 track, "Cry in the Night," is the group's best, a snarling garage stomper with nasty guitar breaks and sneering vocals. The rest of the disc is a bit of a let down, like going to see the San Francisco Giants and they pull Barry Bonds out after the first inning. There are still quite a few worthwhile tracks: the beat stomper "Take Her Home" by the Ro-D-Ys is a great tune with big shiny hook; "Come Closer" by the Outsiders' Wally Tax is a strange and wonderful Drifters-influenced ballad with mariachi horns and MOR strings; "Cry Me a River" by Hu & the Hilltops turns the Julie London weeper into a beat ballad with some helium-filled vocal harmonies; "Margio" by Rob Hoeke is a ...
