Shortly after the release of the American Beauty soundtrack -- which featured tantalizing excerpts from Thomas Newman's music bookending a collection of pop songs -- came the release of the full score. From the film's haunting main theme and "Any Other Name" to the witty, percussive "Dead Already," "Choking the Bishop," and "Mr. Smarty Man," Newman's score evokes as much feeling and humor as the film itself does. I love that song, too. After much searching, it is: Don't Let it Bring You Down, sung by Annie Lennox. Enjoy!

 Obviously..
..this is the score to the movie, so buying it for the SONG at the end was a little dumb and a crazy reason to leave bad feedback on the whole album.
By the way i believe its called 'because' by the beatles.

an excellent album
i find this album chilling and fascinating. i recommend it to all types of society if they just want to be soothed from head to toe

I also bought the soundtrack expecting some of the songs that are not included. I wanted the song that played during the seduction of the young girl by Kevin Spacey. If anyone knows this song, please let me know. Thanks.

When i first listened to this album my heart just jumped inside my body and i knew that i had to listen to it repatatively to keep myself happy.
Grade A work from Thomas Newman, i have alot of respect for this man and shall continue to do so for many years.
