No Name Face, the debut release by Los Angeles-based Lifehouse, certainly proves the theory that less is more. The moody album contains pensive lyrics, soulfully sung by Jason Wade, which are supported by organic electric guitar arrangements. The simplified, but by no means simple, music aptly supports Wade's sonorous voice, which can be compared to Eddie Vedder, Scott Stapp of Creed, and Scott Weiland. At age 20, Wade, who takes songwriting credit, is a lyrical wunderkind, writing words generally reserved for his older counterparts. The album's theme is one of searching -- spiritually, personally, and emotionally -- and this is particularly in evidence on the tracks "Unknown," "Trying," and "Only One." Lifehouse makes a refreshing departure from other post-grunge, youth-oriented bands, who, for example, sing of one-night-stands, big butts, and the ills of society. Here, Wade revels in humanity, exploring and questioning its every nook and cranny. No Name Face benefits from the seasoned ears of Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, U2, Stone Temple Pilots), who mixed the album, and producer Ron Aniello. Both brought Wade's vocals and lyrics to the forefront of the mix and, rather than overshadowing them with complex and overbearing instrumentation, kept the music appropriately in the background. It's an intelligent musical formula sorely missed in much music of the early 21st century, particularly in this type of music where songs are sometimes nothing more than a cacophony of screaming and effects-laden instrumentation. It really is a bit of a surprise to see such musical maturity hailing from such a young (in age and tenure) band. No Name Face should fit right in on rock radio. ~ Liana Jonas
In the year 2000, you'd be well within your rights to assume there's little new ground to be broken by a guitar-bass-drums rock band. Admittedly, you'd probably be right; Lifehouse doesn't break any astonishing new ground or pioneer any new trends. That's not what this pop-rock trio is about. They're more concerning with crafting solid songs and arresting arrangements than being the Next Big Thing. Fortunately, their songcraft has proven solid enough to earn them a solid following.
The group has clearly learned some lessons from the post-Nirvana school of alt-rock. They handily combine melodic, understated moments with emphatic sonic outbursts. Moody keyboards and delicate acoustic guitar walk hand in hand with hardy power chords and hard-hitting rhythms. Simple but effective melodic hooks keep the listener's attention focused on both the personal, ruminative lyrics and the pop-friendly production.

5 stars ONE OF THE BEST DEBUT ALBUMS I HAVE EVER HEARD!
No Name Face is one of those special albums where once you hear it you're life will never be the same and it adds something to you and you're life. 12 tracks or 14 if in some places and not a duff one to be heard.Highlights include Sick Cycle Carousel,Trying,Only One,Simon,Somewhere In Between an the super special song as singer Jason Wade calls it the ending track Everything and boy is it special. Its hypnotic starting leads to a gradual climax with wade stating 'you're all i want you're all i need you're everything' which he practically screams with thunder upto a peaceful finish.Leaving you totally bewildered at what you have just experienced. This song and album will change you.Pop rock hooks with meaningful lyrics and heartfelt ballads.Featuring beautiful string arrangements on tracks like Trying and accordian on the ever beautiful Somewhere In Between this album offers something alot differesnt from the run of the mill rock bands like 3 doors down etc. They boarder on Nirvana and Pearl Jam grunge which they fully took up on their next album Stanley Climbfall.Buy this album and i promise you wont be dissapointed.Absolutley stunning. Also try to see them live too awesome.....!

5 stars Emotional Brilliance
This album has placed Lifehouse on top of my favourite rock band list. Jason's lyrics are brilliant written and sang with emotion. You can just feel him sitting there and porring his heart out. It's really annoying that radio stations only play "Hanging By A Moment" even though that's a great track, the real beauty lies in songs like "Everything", "Somewhere In Between" and "Breathing". The new album is a little dissapointing. This is by far the best Rock album I have ever heard. Nothing like Creed btw, trust me on this one, this album is worth every penny. Cheers :)

Delivery Man
Elvis Costello Delivery Man CD  (2004) (Import) Japan

No Name Face
CD $38.09
Elvis Costello's 21st studio album, The Delivery Man, was intended as a song cycle or a concept album, not that you could ever tell from listening to album. During the prerelease promotion for the album, Costello claimed that he had written a narrative concerning a delivery man in the American South, following him on his journeys and through his relationships with three women of different ages and backgrounds. He also said that he deliberately presented the songs on the album out of narrative order, even taking songs off the record if they revealed too much about either the character or the story. All of this pretty much means that The Delivery Man lacks even a semblance of a narrative, and the only way to know that it's supposed to have one was to read prerelease press or reviews. In other words, the record wound up not as a concept album but as a conceptual album, one that is inspired by the South, in both its music and its imagery, so it's fitting that it's released on the Americana label Lost Highway in Costello's ongoing quest to release an album on every one of Universal's various imprints. While the narrative may have been thrown out the window, that doesn't mean it wasn't needed, since the fledgling concept helped focus Costello even ...

Cat Power: Chan Marshall (vocals); Judah Bauer (guitar); Gregg Foreman (piano); Erik Paparazzi (bass guitar); Jim White (drums).
Additional personnel: Mabon "Teenie" Hodges, Matt Sweeney (guitar); Dylan Willemsa (viola); Spooner Oldham (organ); Larry McDonald (percussion).
After establishing herself on the 2007 Matador-released album THE GREATEST as the indie world's answer to Norah Jones, Cat Power's Chan Marshall returned to the format of 2000's THE COVERS ALBUM for JUKEBOX, tackling tracks made famous by Hank Williams ("Ramblin' (Wo)man"), Bob Dylan ("I Believe in You"), James Brown ("Lost Someone"), and Frank Sinatra ("New York"), among many others. Marshall proved herself a unique interpreter on THE COVERS ALBUM, deftly folding a diverse set of songs into her own dark, dreamy sonic world. She expertly stays the course on JUKEBOX, sublimating the masculine bravado of songs by these artists into her own muscular yet decidedly feminine musical template.
JUKEBOX contains only one new Cat Power composition ("Song to Bobby"), but the many facets of Marshall are on full display here. And though the soul influence of THE GREATEST ...
